JSI/World Education seeks candidates for multiple positions for a potential 5-year project funded by the U.S. Department of State and focused on combatting child labor and child trafficking in Nepal. The purpose of the 5 year project is to support the Government of Nepal and Nepali civil society to combat child trafficking in a victim-centered, coordinated, sustainable, and multi-sectoral approach to support an effective system of prevention, protection, prosecution, and partnership. Positions will be based in Kathmandu. All positions are subject to project award, funding, and donor approval.
Summary:
The Project Director will provide overall leadership and management of the project focused on capacity building of government and civil society to address child trafficking and child labor. The Project Director will be responsible for ensuring successful implementation of the project to meet program targets and deliverables on time, within budget, and in compliance with US Government rules and regulations. The Project Director will serve as the primary point of contact with key stakeholders, including JSI/WE home office colleagues, Government of Nepal representatives, donor representatives, and partners. The Project Director will supervise staff and partners, including mentoring team members and strengthening partner capacities.
Responsibilities
- Overall project management, including progress monitoring and results tracking, budget monitoring, compliance.
- Team and consortium management, including supervision of JSI/WE staff members and partner coordination and management.
- Liaise with the government of Nepal.
- Coordinate with the donor and other development partners and stakeholders.
- Provide high-level technical leadership and guidance related to government and civil society capacity strengthening, child protection, prevention of child labor and trafficking, and prosecution.
Qualifications
- Masters in Social Work or other relevant degree.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in relevant management, supervisory, technical experience working with programs of similar scope to this project, of which at least 5 years has been in management/leadership positions.
- Proven ability to lead large complex, donor-funded projects, with experience in senior roles on US Government-funded projects highly preferred.
- 10+ years of relevant experience in child protection, children’s rights, prevention of child trafficking and/or child labor, or judicial reform.
- Experience in program design, policy dialogue, strategic planning and implementation, capacity building and system strengthening
- Proven ability to build and sustain partnerships to achieve results; strong communication, organization, and management skills, and ability to develop and maintain strong and collaborative relationships with donors, Government counterparts, partners, and other stakeholders.
- Technical expertise in a relevant area: child protection, human rights law, prevention of child trafficking and/or child labor, etc.
- Nepali nationals strongly preferred; third-country nationals and expatriates will be considered. Excellent spoken and written English required; fluency in Nepali strongly preferred.
