Background
Good Neighbors International (GNI) is an international development and humanitarian organization that responds to the call of the neglected, vulnerable, and marginalized beyond the barriers of race, nationality, religion, ideology, and geography. GNI empowers people in 46 countries across the world through social development activities and places particular emphasis on economic development in order to break the vicious cycle of poverty that people in developing countries suffer from. Established in 1991 in Seoul, South Korea, GNI has fundraising offices in Chile, Mexico, USA, Canada, South Korea, Japan, Australia, Taiwan, United Kingdom, and an International Cooperation Office in Geneva, Switzerland.
In Nepal, GNI has been working since 2002 for improving the lives of poor people, especially children through child protection, education, income generation, health services, water, sanitation and hygiene, disaster risk reduction/climate change adaptation, and advocacy programs. Currently, GNI Nepal serves marginalized, vulnerable, and poor children, families, and communities in 20 districts across Nepal.
GNI Nepal has implemented a Maternal, Neonate and Child Health (MCH) Project in Mugu District for subsequent management of improving maternal and child health care. Hence, the project office invites application from eligible Nepali citizens who are committed, reliable and have ability to deliver results for the position of Project Lead to be based in Mugu.
Scope of Work
Project Lead is responsible for planning and implementation of the overall project activities in Mugu District. As a core resource of the project, he/she is also responsible for overall supervision, monitoring and reporting of the activities of the project complying the GNI Nepal policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
1. PROGRAM PLANNING AND IMPLEMENTATION
- Develop annual/quarterly/ monthly/ weekly work plan with indicators
- Develop DIP of project activities
- Identify problems and suggest corrective action concerning programmatic issues
- Ensure timely execution of project activities
2. COORDINATION AND COLLABORATION
- Coordinate with Province Government, District Hospital/Health Posts and Local Governments for sustainability of interventions
- Coordinate with like-minded organizations for synergy in project interventions
- Contribute to the creation of partnerships by developing strategic relations and alliances with line agencies
- Represent GNI Nepal in Health and WASH cluster meetings at the district level
3. MEAL
- Coordinate with Public Health and MEAL department to develop monitoring tools, and conduct field assessment to design and facilitate assessment and survey
- Coordinate with Public Health and MEAL department to develop reporting format and system
- Track/monitor progress against planned activities
- Submit periodic reports
- Document and share experiences, lessons learned, best practices to support in knowledge management
- Keep record of case/ success stories from field and report to concerned departments
4. HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT
- Track plan and progress of project staff
- Conduct TNA for capacity development of project staff
- Organize capacity development program for project staff
- Conduct performance evaluation of project staff
- Mitigate conflict among project staff (if any)
5. GENERAL ADMINISTRATION AND FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT
- Ensure timely fund request, fund release and financials settlement
- Oversee the financial transaction, bank details, procurement process, bidding documents
- Oversee HR mobilization, leave records and other day-to-day operations
- Ensure financial execution against plan
- Review financial report and ensure timely submission
6. Others
- Carry out other duties and responsibilities assigned by the supervisor
Job Specification
- Master’s degree in development studies or public health or project management having 5 or more years of experience in humanitarian and/or development organizations for public health-related projects.
- Expertise on result-based project management, research techniques, different approaches of data collection, analysis of public health issues.
- Experience in project implementation, communication, coordination, monitoring and reporting skills.
- Experience in conducting impact studies including tool design, data analysis, innovative reporting and documenting best practices for organizational learning.
- Strong participatory management and supervision skills including interpersonal, communications, training and facilitation skills.
