Environment and Public Health Organization (ENPHO), established in 1990, is a service-oriented, scientific, national non-governmental organization constantly striving toward environmental sustainability and public that has worked in more than 55 districts of Nepal. ENPHO has been working in Nepal for more than 30 years. ENPHO’s mission is to develop, demonstrate and disseminate innovative technologies and systems to enable societies to become healthy and environment friendly. ENPHO envisages creating eco-societies by providing quality services on Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH), environment, and public health through research, innovations, promotion of the WASH technologies and approaches, and air pollution through the promotion of integrated community-based approaches, eco-friendly techniques, and technologies.

Environment and Public Health Organization (ENPHO) invites applications from qualified Nepali citizens for, USAID Clean Air, a five-year initiative, which aims to improve air quality in Kathmandu Valley to approach National Ambient Air Quality Standards leading to improve health and education outcomes.

Duty Station: Kathmandu Central Office
Position Reports to: Program Director

Required min qualifications and experiences:

  •  Master’s degree in environmental science, public health, management and social sciences, or any other relevant related field with minimum 3 years of work experience in environment
    and public health;
  •  Excellent technical skills, knowledge and working experiences on strategic planning, program design, implementation etc;
  • Proven experience of working with diverse team within and outside the organization to implement the project;
  •  High level of interpersonal skills establishing and maintaining positive working relationships with consortium partners and major stakeholders.
  •  Proactive, multi-tasking with flexibility to travel in remote areas as demanded by the project.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills establishing and maintaining positive working relationships with consortium partners and major stakeholders along with excellent communication, coordination and collaboration, team building and management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Good oral and writing skills on both English and Nepali including documentation.
  • Knowledge of national and international context on thematic areas, i.e. Environmental condition and conservation, urbanization and its impact, climate change, air quality.
  • Knowledge and experience with policy analysis, research, advocacy, social accountability mechanisms, and gender equality and social inclusion.
  • Excellent knowledge of MS office Package.
  • Having a driving license for a motorbike or scooter will be an advantage.

Duties and Responsibilities

The key duty and responsibilities of the position will be as listed below.

  • Developing the strategic and operational plan of activities and proactively supervising its progress, resolving issues and initiating appropriate corrective actions.
  • ensuring effective quality assurance and the overall integrity of the project – focusing inwardly on the internal consistency of the project, and outwardly on its coherence with other
    projects, technical and standards.
  • Providing proper guidance and support on the updated and proven approaches/ techniques/ technologies to the project staffs for attainment of worthy output.
  •  managing the project budget on behalf of ENPHO, tracking expenditure and costs against delivered and realised benefits as the project progresses.
  •  ensuring the delivery of project activities to the appropriate level of quality, on time and within budget, in accordance with the project plan and project governance arrangement.
  •  Establishing good communications and coordination with all stakeholders including government, donors, partners and civil societies to maintain cordial relationship with all
    concerned.
  • Representing organization in relevant forum to share about project, its progress and achievement with evident in coordination with immediate supervisor.
  •  Managing both the dependencies and the interfaces between projects within organization.
  • managing risks to the project’s successful outcome.
  • Conducting overall monitoring and supervision of project activities and project staffs and providing necessary input to motivate project staffs, to improve work.
  •  Preparing and reporting to donors, partners and authorities on project and its objectives, activities, progresses, achievements in coordination with program director.
  •  Carrying out quarterly review of project and plan for the upcoming quarter.
  • Preparing and reporting the progress of the project at regular intervals to the immediate
    supervisor.
  •  initiating extra activities and other management interventions wherever gaps in the project are identified or issues arise.

  • Performing any other duties, as necessary and instructed by the line manage.

Duration:

The duration of the position will for one year with possible extension.
