Local Initiatives for Biodiversity, Research, and Development (LI-BIRD) is a non-profit, non-governmental organization established in October 1995 with its Head Office in Pokhara and Programme Coordination Office in Lalitpur. LI-BIRD is committed to capitalizing on local initiatives for sustainable management of renewable natural resources and improving the livelihoods of rural people in Nepal.

Green Evolution: Pathways to Food System Transformation’ project is funded by the Welthungerhilfe (WHH) and the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). It is a regional project being implemented in Nepal, India and Bangladesh. In Nepal it is implemented in Surkhet; Dailekh and Jumla covering five municipalities. The project aims to support the implementation of national pathways towards equitable, responsible and sustainable food systems and is expected to strengthen the local agroecological systems through improved policy frameworks, operational structures and multi stakeholder cooperation at all levels.

LI-BIRD invites applications from eligible and qualified Nepali citizens who are committed and have the ability to deliver results with the highest integrity for the position:

Project Officer (Level 6) – 2 (Green Evolution Project, one each based at LI-BIRD site office Jumla and Dailekh respectively)

Job Summary: Reporting to Senior Programme Officer (SPO), the Project Officer’s key duties include field activities planning, implementation, data management and report writing. In addition, the Project Officer is required to provide technical support to the local partner organization and should ensure the project is being implemented as per the project’s overall goal, objectives and outcomes. Further, the Project Officer is required to coordinate with the local government and other key stakeholders for effective project implementation, building synergies, resource leveraging and scaling up of potential innovations.

Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in agriculture or other relevant subjects with 2 years of relevant experience in implementing projects in agriculture and livelihood sectors. Candidates with a valid motorbike/scooter license and work experience in the implementation and reporting of projects are encouraged to apply.
