FUNCTION:
The Project Officer will implement project activities at the field level envisioned in the project “Digital Mentoring and Continuing Education for Improved Service and Market Linkages among Community Animal Health Workers in Nepal”, a joint project between the University of Florida, University of California, Davis (UCDavis) and Heifer Project Nepal and being funded jointly by USAID-FtF-LSIL-UF and The Digital Agricultural Innovations and Services Initiative (DAISI). The Officer will be responsible for planning project implementation as per the project document, coordinating with stakeholders, and reporting periodic progress in the prescribed format.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DELIVERABLES: (including approximate percentage effort)
Project Implementation and Management (50 %)
- Coordinate and collaborate with CAHWs/VAHWs/CAVEs along with the Veterinarian and Other Livestock Expert Consultants to develop engaging and informative education materials,
- Conduct regular virtual sessions to the selected CAHWs/VAHWs/CAVEs through developed digital mentoring platform for continuous learning process,
- Offer technical guidance, problem solving assistance on issues related to Veterinarian practices to distant trainee,
- Train the CAWHs/CAVEs/VAHWs on the proper use of the digital mentoring platform,
- Coordinate with IT consultants/Firm to redesign the digital mentoring platform.
- Regular follow-up with the cooperatives for collective goat marketing with established goat marketing digital tool.
Quality Assurance and System Strengthening (30%)
- Oversee the field work assigned to the consulting firms,
- Establish strong communication with team members, CAHWs, Consulting IT firms and other relevant stakeholders,
- Ensure the high level of standard data required to the research team,
Reporting and Planning (15%)
- Prepare quarterly work plan, and reports based on the organization’s formats,
- Summarize the mentoring reports and other deliverables delivered during the continuous education process through digital platforms
May perform other job-related duties as assigned. (5%)
QUALIFICATION AND SKILLS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science, Veterinary Science, Agriculture Science, or any other relevant field with at least three (3) years of previous job experience or master’s degree in any of the above-mentioned fields with one (1) year of experience.
- Familiar with VAHW and CAVE concepts in Nepal.
- Strong knowledge of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT).
Most Critical Proficiencies:
- Time management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
- Excellent computer knowledge with command of MS Excel.
- Good leadership qualities and communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Upholding high ethical standards, ensuring fair practices, and maintaining confidentiality.
- Information technology proficiency in accounting/ procurement software, word processing, spreadsheets, reporting and file managing, electronic mail, and internet (Microsoft preferred)
- Sound in English and Nepali, both spoken and written
