EcoHimal Nepal is a national Non-Government Organization founded in 2009, with the aim of achieving Sustainable Development through Community Empowerment in rural mountain areas. It aims to enhance the livelihood of unreached and marginalized communities through grassroots initiatives and in-depth involvement, without disturbing local ecology and social and cultural structure. “Participation – Ownership – Sustainability” is the main theme of the organization.
Project Officers
Location: EcoHimal Project Areas
Expected Start Date: 10th October, 2024
Duration of the Contract: Three Year, with possibility of extension
Probation Period: 6 months

The position involves planning, coordinating, implementing and overseeing subordinate employees for education and health-focused projects in basic schools. The ideal candidate should possess excellent leadership, organizational, administrative, and clerical skills, along with strong interpersonal skills, self-motivation, adaptability, careful attention to detail, and the ability to plan ahead and work under pressure. Proficiency in both written and verbal communication is essential.
Required Qualifications:
- Comprehensive understanding of the project cycle.
- A minimum of 3 years of proven experience in project design and leadership, with experience living and working with local communities.
- Bachelor’s degree in Public health or social science.
- Computer skills at least for office package and Nepali typing.
Job Description:
- The position is a professional in charge of ensuring to complete project on time and within budget frame and defined objectives.
- Developing strategic and action plans for effective project implementation.
- Developing detailed project plans, ensuring resource availability and allocation and delivering every activity on time within budget and scope.
- Conducting training, orientations, events, and community mobilization in alignment with implementation plans, logical frameworks, and project documents.
- Ensuring timely delivery of project activities within the project’s scope and budget.
- Developing new initiatives and innovations to enhance project effectiveness.
- Creating efficient solutions and alternatives for improved performance.
- Leading, motivating, and supervising subordinate staff members to encourage high performance, being a team player and have a problem-solving aptitude.
- Effective communication and coordination with senior management, local government, and stakeholders.
- Prepare and use appropriate verification techniques to manage changes in project scope, schedule and costs.
- Measure project performance using appropriate systems, tools and techniques. Ensuring that project activities adhere to the organization’s policies and procedures.
- Representing various projects at local, district, and national levels.
- Establishing and maintaining relationships with local government, stakeholders, and partners.
- Perform risk, conflict management to minimize project risks and conflicts.
- Periodic reporting to the senior management and stakeholders. Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation.
- Performing additional tasks as assigned by senior management with mutual consent.
Social Mobilizers
Location: Mandan Deupur Municipality, Kavreplanchowk
Expected Start Date: 10th October, 2024

- Minimum of +2 education with 3 years of relevant work experience.

Job Description
- Assist the Project Manager in implementing project activities.
- Execute project activities in coordination with project management and local government authorities.
- Conduct household and individual school visits to raise awareness among local residents and children.
- Organize and document meetings, and handle other necessary coordination with beneficiaries.
- Conduct training sessions and orientations under the guidance of the Project Manager.
- Coordinate with schools, teachers, and stakeholders.
- Maintain records and provide daily updates on ongoing activities.
- Plan and carry out awareness-raising activities, preparing daily, weekly, and monthly work plans.
- Facilitate community-based organizations in executing project activities.
- Support the creation of a child-friendly learning environment and promote quality education in schools.
- Monitor, record, and regularly update information on project achievements.
- Perform any additional tasks as assigned by the Project Manager.
JTA
Location: EcoHimal’s project areas
Expected Start Date: 10th October, 2024

Responsibilities / Job Description:
- Assist programme officer/Project manager to implement the project;
- co-operation and coordination with local government;
- create and update a profile of farmers (individual farmers);
- facilitate in establishment and management of various nurseries (vegetables, forest, tree crops, spices);
- conservation of environment, wild plants, tree crops through farmers field school approach
- identify a special crops/spice in a special village and create a pocket area enabling them to prepare adaptation plan
- establish module school agro-forestry Garden
- train local farmers on bio-intensive farming, productions and green consumption
- facilitate in demonstration/dissemination blocks establishment;
- facilitate to establish/manage satellite nurseries;
- deliver service to local farmers: training, education and extension on n multi-layer cropping, organic farming, soil regeneration and conservation practices
- support to supply of seeds/seedlings for tree crops promotion
- coordination with local governments, concerned line agencies for massive plantation
- coordinate with the secondary school, training to students once month
- assist in training to farmers on climate smart agriculture
- coordinate with different stakeholders, line agencies and nurseries for plant, seeds and know how transfer;
- any other tasks as assigned by the programme officer and the programme manager
Qualification: JTA in agriculture with 3 years of work experience. Preferable JT.
