Environment and Public Health Organization (ENPHO) is a service oriented, scientific, and research-based national non-governmental organization working in the field of environment, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), and public health in Nepal since 1990. ENPHO is constantly striving towards sustainable development, demonstration and dissemination of eco-friendly technologies. ENPHO promotes integrated community-based approaches for safe water, sustainable sanitation, improved hygiene behavior, clean air, and safe living environment for creating healthy and environment friendly societies.

USAID Integrated Nutrition will be implemented in various districts across all seven provinces of Nepal. The primary goal of USAID Integrated Nutrition is to improve the nutrition status of women, adolescents, and children in Nepal’s underserved and marginalized communities. ENPHO will lead on WASH across all intermediate results, including the adoption of essential WASH and other healthy environmental actions under IR1 and IR3, WASH in health facilities under IR2 and WASH governance under IR4.

Province WASH Coordinator

No. of Vacancy: 5

Duty Station: Doti, Surkhet, Dang, Dhanusha, Kathmandu (with frequent visits to various districts within the
respective provinces)

The Province WASH Coordinator will lead on WASH of the USAID Integrated Nutrition in the respective provinces. The Province WASH Coordinator will coordinate and provide technical assistance to provincial government and collaboration with other program components, consortium team & partner organization staffs to ensure all the WASH interventions are carried out maintaining high technical quality. The position will also ensure capacity strengthening on WASH of USAID Integrated Nutrition staff at the district and municipal level.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the overall design and ensure quality implementation of WASH components at the provincial and municipal level in close coordination with local government and implementing partners.
  •  Coordinate and collaborate with provincial government for nutrition-sensitive WASH programming and governance.
  •  Provide technical assistance to relevant government officials at provincial and local level to design, plan and implement WASH related plans, policies, and strategies.
  • Conduct regular monitoring, provide supportive supervision and strengthen capacity of USAID Integrated Nutrition staff, local implementing partners staff of respective province.
  • Provide support in designing tailored and targeted social and behavior change interventions and support documenting best practices, and lessons learned.
  •  Support in preparing periodic program reports, designing technical approaches and other necessary documents of the respective province in a timely manner.
  •  Ensure GESI mainstreaming in program design, implementation and day-to-day work.

Qualification and Skills

  • Master’s degree in public health, and social sciences, or a related field with three to five years of experience in WASH and public health programs or a bachelor’s degree with over five years of experience as mentioned above.
  • Proven experience of working with diverse team within and outside the organization to implement WASH program integrating with health, nutrition and education.
  • High level of interpersonal skills establishing and maintaining positive working relationships with consortium partners and major stakeholders.
  •  Proactive, multi-tasking with flexibility to travel in remote areas as demanded by the project.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, coordination and collaboration, team building and management,
    and problem-solving skills.
  •  Good oral and writing skills on both English and Nepali including documentation.
