Psycho-social Counsellor
Burns Violence Survivors Nepal (BVS-Nepal) is a non-governmental organization. BVS-Nepal is a pioneering and the only organization so far focusing on burns and acid violence in Nepal. It works at all levels from ground to government, from individual to community. BVS-Nepal is looking for a dynamic and self-motivated applicant for the position of Psycho-social Counsellor for running project.

Qualification, Skills, and Experience:
- The candidate must have an Intermediate or bachelor’s in any discipline along with at least six-month psychosocial counseling training/Post Graduate Diploma (PGD) in Counseling Psychology.
- At least one year of working experience as a psychosocial counselor and able to work in a multicultural environment
- Able to make field visits frequently within and out of the main duty station as required by the project’s activities.
- Sound knowledge and skills of the computer, email, and internet. Able to prepare reports in Microsoft word, excel and google sheet.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation & public relation skills in both English and Nepali.
Major responsibilities:
- The Psychosocial Counselor will be responsible for the following duties but not limited to: Undertake vulnerability assessments, provide appropriate psychosocial counselling to burn patients/survivors, their family and caregivers, during the patient’s stay in the hospital and after discharge as per the need of organization.
- Build rapport with burn patients/survivors, their family, caregivers, hospital staff and service providers.
- Conduct community-based psychosocial orientation and sensitization programs to targeted communities.
- Maintain database and case studies of the beneficiaries and its confidentiality. Make frequent follow-up and field visits to provide psychosocial counselling support as per the need.
- Provide support in project activities as per the need of program/organization.
- Develop annual, semi-annual, periodic, event reports and report to the Program Manager.
- Provide support as per the requirement of program/organization.

Qualification, Knowledge and Experience:
- Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Law, Human Right or related subject. Proven experience in advocacy project implementation/management, proposal
development and report writing with minimum 3 years of experience in development sectors, I/NGOs. - Good understanding of human rights-based approach and familiarity with existing Nepalese laws, legal system including core International Human Rights Treaties.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation & public relation skills in both English and Nepali.
- Able to work effectively and efficiently under pressure and in a team for bringing the concrete results.
- Flexible and able to multitask on several different aspects of the projects.
- Well-versed in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel, Google Sheets etc.
- Knowledge and experience working on GBV, acid and burn violence, including referral pathways and livelihood support.
- Experience in working with government institutions, NGOs and donor institutions.
- Proven knowledge of experience in advocacy with governments and planning processes of local, provincial and federal governments.
Key area of Accountability:
- Review and conduct in-depth analysis of existing laws, policies, regulations and programs of the Government.
- Communicate and lobby with government authorities to concerned stakeholders to highlight the burn issues.
- Develop advocacy related statement, policy brief, report, document on burn issues.
- Field visit in the existing target area of the project and collect evidences that reflects content and local context.
- Develop annual, semi-annual, periodic, event reports and proposal.
- Take a responsibility to conduct events and implementation of the overall project.
- Provide support as per the requirement of program/organization.
- Monitoring and ensure quality of services provided to beneficiaries.
- Produce success stories of the beneficiaries.
