About the organization
Center for Research and Sustainable Development Nepal (CREASION) is a not-for-profit organization that was established in 2005. Since it was founded, CREASION has been a leader in environmental protection in Nepal through recycling, research, emergency response, grassroots and circular economy related interventions. CREASION also houses innovative, impact-based projects as well as a learning center for youth. CREASION’s work is majorly centered around four thematic areas; Environment and Sustainability, Disaster Risk Reduction, and Youth and Volunteerism.
About the Project
Project CAP (Collaborative Approach for Preventing Plastic Leakages in Rivers of Nepal) aims to divert plastic waste into product value chain from landfills and rivers by strengthening plastic waste collection mechanism and strengthening recycling efforts through the introduction of technological innovations. The project will develop a collaborative model to engage all the major stakeholders in establishing a strong plastic waste value chain. Project CAP is one of the projects by the PLEASE (Plastic Free Rivers and Seas of South Asia) in Nepal, which is implemented by the South Asia Co-operative Environment Program (SACEP), supported by UNOPS and the World Bank.
Objective:
The Public Health Consultant will be responsible to provide expert advice and support to CREASION in the implementation and evaluation of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) training for waste workers and other beneficiaries, including the development of training modules, monitoring, and reporting.
Scope of Work:
- Conduct a baseline assessment of the current OHS practices and conditions among waste workers and other beneficiaries. Develop comprehensive training modules for OHS tailored to the needs of waste workers and other beneficiaries.
- Provide training sessions and capacity-building workshops on OHS for waste workers and other stakeholders.
- Monitor the implementation of OHS practices and evaluate their effectiveness.
- Prepare and submit detailed reports on baseline assessment, training activities, monitoring, and overall project impact.
Deliverables
The consultant is expected to deliver the following:
A detailed baseline report on current OHS practices and conditions.
Comprehensive OHS training modules tailored for waste workers and other beneficiaries.
Training materials and workshop reports.
Conduction of five Public Health and OHS Training Monitoring and evaluation reports on the implementation of OHS practices.
A final consultancy report with findings, recommendations, and an impact assessment.
Duration
The total duration of the work will be 40 days till December 2024.
Qualifications and Experience
The ideal candidate should have:
- A Master’s degree in Public Health, Safeguarding or a related field.
- At least five years of experience in public health consulting, with a focus on OHS.
- Proven experience in developing and delivering training programs.
- Strong analytical and report-writing skills.
- Excellent communication and training skills.
- Experience working with waste workers or in a similar context is an advantage
Work Environment:
Frequent travel may be required.
