Transcultural Psychosocial Organization Nepal (TPO) Nepal is one of Nepal’s leading psychosocial organizations. It was established in 2005 to promote psychosocial well-being and mental health of people in conflict-affected and other vulnerable communities through the development of sustainable, culturally-appropriate, and community-based psychosocial support systems.

Project information:

ALIVE is a 5-year project aiming to develop, and test the feasibility, acceptability and appropriateness of intervention modules (economic/anti-poverty intervention modules and self-regulation intervention modules) for preventing common mental health problems such as depression and anxiety among adolescents aged 10-19 years living in poverty affected urban settings such as squatter settlements in Nepal. ALIVE is being implemented by TPO Nepal in Kathmandu valley.

TPO Nepal seeks competent, committed and result oriented candidates for the following positions:

Qualitative Interviewer

Job station: Kathmandu

Job duration: 2-3 months with a possibility of extension for a further 2-3 months

Number of openings: 3-4

Start date: At the earliest

Responsibilities

  • Engage in implementation of qualitative study including field coordination, planning and field data management
  • Coordinate with school officials to facilitate the research activities
  • Conduct data collection using various qualitative methods such as interviews and group discussions
  • Performing transcribing of the qualitative interviews
  • Contribute to the translation of the transcripts of the qualitative interviews
  • Ensure timely completion of quality data collection in coordination with the project coordinator as per research protocol and activity schedule
  • Ensure confidentiality and security of data
  • Ensure ethical standards are adhered to and considered during data collection and data processing
  • Perform qualitative data management, coding, and analysis using qualitative data analysis software such as Nvivo in routine analysis work
  • Contribute to the development of scientific papers for publication in scientific journals
  • Provide regular updates and reports to the project coordinator

SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Master’s degree in Social Science or Public Health
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in qualitative research encompassing qualitative data collection, transcribing, and translation of the qualitative transcripts and analyzing qualitative data, and generating outputs through diverse methods
  • .Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both Nepali and English.
  • Competence in utilizing qualitative analysis software (Nvivo)Preference will be given to candidates with experience on mental health research, prior academic publications in peer-reviewed journals or conference presentations.
  • Nepalese candidates with valid two-wheelers driving license will be an added advantage.
