Research Associate (Livelihoods and Food Security)

NDRI is an independent, non-profit institution, a leading think tank in Nepal dedicated to address the contemporary and emerging challenges through quality research for evidence based policy and programming. NDRI focuses on creating opportunities for research, dialogue and collaboration. NDRI has been able to strengthen linkage between the policy makers, academia, different national and international organizations and a pool of experts.

NDRI has a rich experience of leading important studies and assessments on livelihoods and food security in Nepal, with significant contributions on policies and programmes. NDRI is now looking for an eligible candidate for the position of a Research Associate (Livelihoods and Food Security) to work as part of this team. Required Qualification and Experience

• EDUCATION: University degree in statistics, economics, agriculture, or similar relevant discipline. A Master’s degree is preferable.
•  EXPERIENCE: Overall, at least three years of progressively responsible experience in the field of livelihoods and food security analysis and assessments, statistical analysis, agriculture economics or a closely related area
• KNOWLEDGE: Strong knowledge of livelihoods and food security analysis and the data collection, treatment and manipulation techniques typically associated with it. Strong command of statistics for the analysis of livelihoods and food security indicators. Excellent writing skills in English and Nepali.

The Research Associate will be stationed at NDRI office located at Lalitpur, Nepal, but might require travelling frequently to the study/project locations. The initial contract will be for one year, including a three-month probation period, with the possibility of annual extension depending on the candidate’s performance and availability of funds
