POSITION OVERVIEW:

This position is responsible for ensuring a safe working environment at the 5-star hotel construction site by implementing health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies. The role involves identifying potential hazards, conducting risk assessments, ensuring compliance with legal and industry standards, and promoting a culture of safety among workers and contractors.

KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Implement safety programs and conduct site inspections to ensure adherence to HSE guidelines.
• Maintain and update safety records, reports, and documentation.
• Conduct risk assessments and hazard identification at different construction stages.
• Recommend and implement corrective actions to eliminate workplace hazards.
• Ensure fire safety measures and emergency response plans are in place.
• Perform routine safety inspections and audits to ensure safe work practices.
• Report safety violations and incidents to the project management team.
• Organize safety training sessions and toolbox talks for workers, engineers, and subcontractors.
• Educate construction workers on the use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and safety protocols.
• Conduct safety drills and emergency response training.
• Investigate accidents, near-misses, and unsafe incidents to determine root causes.
• Prepare incident and accident reports and recommend preventive measures.
• Ensure proper first-aid measures and emergency response procedures are followed.
• Ensure the availability and proper use of PPE on-site.
• Monitor the maintenance of fire extinguishers, first aid kits, and emergency exits.
• Coordinate with suppliers for safety equipment and material procurement.
• Work closely with project managers, engineers, and contractors to implement safety measures.
• Liaise with regulatory bodies for safety inspections and audits.
• Promote a strong safety culture among all employees and site workers.

ACADEMIC QUALIFICATION:

• Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Civil Engineering or a related field.

SKILLS/JOB SPECIFICATION:

• 3-5 years of experience as a Safety Officer in hotel, commercial, or high-rise building projects.
• Knowledge of local and international safety regulations.
• Experience in conducting safety training and audits.
• Strong understanding of HSE regulations and construction safety.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
• Ability to conduct risk assessments and implement corrective actions.
• Detail-oriented with good report-writing skills.
