JOB TITLE: Senior Coordinator – Health and Nutrition

CONTRACT TYPE: 6 months with possibility of extension
Child Safeguarding Level 3 – the responsibilities of the post holder may require having a regular contact with or access to children or young people because the position holder works in the implementation of the country programme and are visiting programme frequently.

The Senior Coordinator – Health and Nutrition will provide technical oversight, and coordination for health and nutrition interventions within the emergency response at district level. The role will ensure that children and vulnerable populations have access to quality, timely health and nutrition services during the emergency. The position will lead assessments, programme implementation, coordination, monitoring, and recovery planning while ensuring alignment with national policies, humanitarian standards, and organizational priorities.

Budget Responsibility: Monitoring of budget expenditure against the plan

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

• Participate actively in relevant Health and Nutrition Cluster meetings, technical working groups, and local coordination mechanisms.
• Coordinate closely with local health authorities, district health offices, hospitals, health facilities, nutrition service providers, and relevant humanitarian partners.
• Coordinate and provide technical supportive supervision to the district level implementing partners on health and nutrition programming during humanitarian assistance.
• Represent the organization in health and nutrition coordination forums and contribute to joint planning, assessments, and response initiatives.
• Collect, analyze, and regularly update data on children’s health and nutrition status and the impact of the emergency on health and nutrition services.
• Support health and nutrition needs assessments and identify priority interventions for children, women, and affected communities.
• Contribute health and nutrition information to situation reports, assessments, response plans, and donor reports.
• Assume overall responsibility of district level health and nutrition program and provide technical leadership in the design, implementation, monitoring, and quality assurance of appropriate health and nutrition interventions.
• Support the delivery of integrated emergency health and nutrition services in accordance with national guidelines and humanitarian standards.
• Ensure health services and humanitarian interventions are child-friendly, inclusive, gender-responsive, disability-inclusive, and accessible to affected populations.
• Promote equitable access to health and nutrition services for girls, boys, persons with disabilities, and other vulnerable groups.
• Ensure that interventions consider protection, safeguarding, mental health, and psychosocial well-being concerns.
• Monitor disease outbreaks, service disruptions, and barriers to accessing health and nutrition services.
• Monitor emerging health and nutrition risks and contribute to response planning and recovery.
• Ensure health and nutrition is integrated across the wider humanitarian response, including education, child protection, WASH, and shelter/settlement, and other sectoral interventions.
• Provide technical support to partners and field teams on health and nutrition in emergencies.
• Ensure field information is collected using approved tools, formats, and reporting templates.
• Verify information from multiple sources before sharing with internal and external stakeholders.
• Ensure sensitive information is handled appropriately and in accordance with data protection requirements and SCI’s principles
• Comply with Save the Children policies and practice with respect to child protection, code of conduct, health and safety, equal opportunities and other relevant policies and procedures.

QUALIFICATION:

• A minimum of 4 years’ (3 years for GSI ) experience in health and nutrition programming or related areas with master’s degree in public health or relevant areas or 6 years ( 4 years for GSI group) of experience in health and nutrition programming with bachelor’s degree in public health or relevant areas

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

• Demonstrated experience in health and nutrition preferably in emergencies, case management, community-based program, or related technical areas.
• Experience coordinating with government authorities, humanitarian coordination mechanisms, and partner organizations.
• Strong experience in assessments, analysis, reporting, and information management.
• Knowledge of health and nutrition frameworks, safeguarding standards, and humanitarian principles.
• Ability to travel extensively to flood-affected and remote locations.
• Fluency in English and Nepali, both written and spoken
• Ability to collect and verify information under tight deadlines.
• Commitment to the aims and principles of SCI in particular, a good understanding of the SCI mandate and child focus and an ability to ensure this continues to underpin our support
• Ability to establish good working relationships and positively contribute to a team
• Ability to work in a stressful and changing environment with limited resources
