Job Description:
As part of the GAM department lead the identification, development and timely submission of quality concept notes and proposals for both institutional grant funding and private World Vision internal funding. Support the GAM manager in other regular day to day GAM tasks.
This is achieved by efficient coordination with WVI Nepal key staff in the operations, P&C, finance and programmes departments, as well as with colleagues in the wider WVI partnership (e.g. staff from Support and Regional Offices).
- Take a lead role on key bid elements including program design, strategic partnerships, presentation of evidence and demonstrated track record to ensure quality applications are submitted, with a high win rate;
- Work with the operations and the finance teams to develop concept papers and proposals (including logical frameworks, draft budgets, budget narratives, and monitoring and evaluation plans) for bilaterial donors, private and multi-lateral donors, WV private internal funding aligned to WVI Nepal strategy and capacity;
- Where relevant, support assessment processes for new projects. This might involve travel to potential project sites to collect information for proposals;
- With the support of Senior MEAL Manager- regularly apply learning, emerging innovations, and best practices from project evaluations, field visit reports, project reports across the program, and from other NGOs (including PNGO) and donors to new proposals;
- Assist GAM Manager and Program Development and Quality (PDQ) Director in identifying and defining funding sources from appropriate public donors to support existing and planned programming activities.
- Where relevant, support planning and facilitation of Grant Start Up/ Compliance workshops and ensure all operations staff are aware of the donor compliance and reporting requirements;
- Coordinate with the Operations team to ensure comprehensive (all relevant project documents and donor Guidelines) hand-over of project to the new Project Manager/ Operations point person and wider grant project teams;
- Support programme/ project managers and coordinators for timely, detailed and quality reports to Support Offices and donors;
- Work with technical staffs, MEAL team, communication and operations team as required to support the development of high-quality communication materials to support (pre)positioning with donors and partners, including capacity statements, impact statements, and RFI responses and other materials for donor pack;
- Provide regular, positive, and productive communication with Support Offices, the field team, and partners for implementation of program activities. This includes maintaining up to date information on relevant donor/Support Offices priorities, guidelines and requirements and share with cross functional departments as needed;
- Assist GAM Manager and PDQ Director to establish/ strengthen relationships/ linkages and networks with key actors and leading NGOs to gather donor intelligence and build collaborative relationships;
- Advise on potential fundraising opportunities arising from intel, forecasts and donor strategies;
- Research, monitor, and utilize shifting donor strategy, funding, or regulatory information, and advise PDQ and Operations leadership of emerging trends that could positively or negatively affect the program.
- Maintain an updated online GAM folder for 100% of all opportunities (closed, ongoing and/ or pending grants);
- Support GAM Manager to prepare Annual GAM target, Annual PNS Plan aligning to GAM business plan;
- Carry out additional responsibilities as assigned by GAM Manager and PDQ Director.
KNOWLEDGE/QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE ROLE
- At least 3 years experiences working in similar positions in Nepal, preferably within a similar development/humanitarian/social organisation.
- Experience of developing concept notes / proposals for funding from bilateral and or multi-lateral donors.
- Familiarity with the development of logframes and theories of change in development programming.
- Knowledge and relevant experience securing bilateral and multi-lateral donors particularly USAID, DFID, EU, DFAT, World Bank and/or UN agencies.
- Experienced in external engagement especially with international and national NGOs and private sector parties.
- Ability to manage pressures and to meet tight project proposals deadline.
- Bachelor level university degree in development studies, social science or a related field.
- Masters level degree in any discipline.
Preferred Knowledge and Qualifications
- Knowledge of Programme Design, Monitoring and Evaluation.
- Competent in use of Microsoft Office computer programs including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Strong written and oral command of English language.
- Excellent analytical skills and ability to quickly grasp complex programme concepts across a range of sectors.
