About the project

The Community Sport and Health Cooperation Initiative in Nepal is a collaboration led by PATH in partnership with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the World Health Organization (WHO). Aligned with IOC’s Olympism365 strategy and Nepal’s Multisectoral Action Plan (MSAP) for the prevention and control of non-communicable diseases (NCDs), this initiative leverages sports as a tool to enhance health and well-being.

Role Summary:

The Senior Program Associate will serve as the local representative of PATH in Nepal for this initiative, ensuring seamless coordination between PATH’s South Asia Hub team, Global Team, Local Implementation Partner, IOC, and in-country stakeholders like Nepal Olympic Committee, WHO Nepal, Social Welfare Council and relevant line ministries. The role involves overseeing implementation, stakeholder engagement, documentation, and program reporting.

This position requires a dynamic professional with experience in program management, multi-sectoral coordination, and community-based interventions, particularly in public health and sports development.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate activities with local stakeholders and PATH.
  • Prepare detailed reports on project progress and share insights with the project team.
  • Monitor the activities on local implementation partner.
  • Engage with government agencies, NGOs, and community organizations to drive program goals.
  • Represent PATH in meetings, conferences, and advocacy events at national and regional levels.
  • Oversee sport-based health interventions in schools and communities.
  • Coordinate training programs for coaches, teachers, and youth leaders.
  • Lead program documentation and maintain records of activities and outcomes with progress reports for PATH, donors, and local stakeholders.
  • Organize trainings, stakeholder meetings, and community events.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Master’s degree preferably in public health, development studies, social sciences, or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of experience in program coordination, stakeholder engagement, and community-based health/sport initiatives in Nepal.
  • Experience in behavior change communication and advocacy, particularly in NCD prevention, youth health, or sport for development.
  • Strong project management skills, including tracking deliverables, reporting, and documentation.
  • Fluent in English and Nepali, with strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and project management tools.

Location: Kathmandu (with travel to project sites in Bagmati Province)
