SOSEC Nepal is implementing Hello Dhara Project in partnership with HELVETAS Nepal at Dailekh district. SOSEC Nepal is seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as different positions for Hello Dhara-Improving Monitoring and Maintenance Systems to Increase Functionality in Nepal. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the effective operation and maintenance of water infrastructure, contributing to the overall success of the project. This role involves coordinating functionality assessments, implementing maintenance plans, support to operate the WASH functionality dashboard and Grievance handling dashboard and collaborating with various stakeholders to optimize the performance of water schemes in following positions.

POSITION SUMMARY- Functionality and Maintenance Coordinator

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as a Functionality and Maintenance Coordinator for Hello Dhara-Improving Monitoring and Maintenance Systems to Increase Functionality in Nepal. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the effective operation and maintenance of water infrastructure, contributing to the overall success of the project. This role involves coordinating functionality assessments, implementing maintenance plans, support to operate the WASH functionality dashboard and Grievance handling dashboard and collaborating with various stakeholders to optimize the performance of water schemes.

Contract Duration: Long term position, renewal in annual basic

Report to this position: Field Coordinator, Site engineer, technical facilitator and other staffs.

KEY ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Functionality Assessment:

  • Participate in regular functionality assessments of water schemes to identify operational issues and potential improvements.
  • Conduct field inspections and tests to evaluate the performance of water infrastructure components.
  • Prepare quality reporting to share with different stakeholders as per the requirements and needs
  • Conduct periodic review and reflection to accommodate failures and successes appropriately
  • Make sure that program goals and key results set forth in annual plans in line with the strategic plan are achieved timely and with quality standards.
  • Lead the team to manage the provided resources with efficient and responsible manner

2. Maintenance Activities:

  • Execute planned maintenance tasks as outlined in coordination with the maintenance coordinator.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and plumbing components of water systems.
  • Provide Technical backstopping support to maintenance worker for minor maintenance
  • Carry out major maintenance of drinking water scheme.
  • Conduct the capacity development events and regularity action to User Committees

3. Data Collection and Reporting:

  • Scheme inventory update/maintained using N-WASH applications.
  • Record and report functionality data, maintenance activities, and observations during fieldwork.
  • Provide input for reports summarizing the status of water scheme functionality and maintenance efforts.

4. Collaboration with Teams:

  • Work closely with WASH unit/board team, users committee and maintenance worker to implement maintenance plans and address identified issues promptly.
  • Communicate effectively with team members to ensure the smooth execution of tasks.

5. Quality Assurance:

  • Implement quality control measures to ensure maintenance activities meet established standards and regulations.
  • Conduct routine inspections to assess the effectiveness of implemented solutions.

6. Documentation:

  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and functionality assessments.
  • Assist in the development of standard operating procedures and documentation for maintenance processes.

7. Child and Women safeguarding

  • Manage all the working environment in the office and working areas are child and female sensitive
  • Guide the team and organization in managing protection related matters appropriately
  • Lead the organization in complying with all child and adult safe guarding policies, requirements and audits
  • Comply with SOSEC policies and practice with respect to child protection, code of conduct, health and safety, and other relevant policies and procedures.
  • Ensure zero tolerance policy of the organization within the project.

8. Education and Experience:

Education: TSLC or pre – diploma in civil engineering
Experience: At least with one year experience, or plumbing trade level -1 with two-year experience in water supply, plumbing, or related fields.
Language: A good communicator, and multi-language proficiency.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Proven experience in maintenance and repair of water infrastructure or similar systems.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
  • Ability to use tools and equipment for maintenance and repairs.
  • Effective communication skills for collaboration with team members.

9. Preferred Skills

  • Working experience on water-related projects in a field technician capacity.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and regulations related to water infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with functionality monitoring tools and data collection techniques.

10. Competencies:

  • Presentation skill to highlight on the areas of success and failures with qualitative and quantitative data and relevant information
  • Demonstrates openness to change and ability to manage complexities.
  • Able to prepare all necessary reports in Nepali and English, have writing and presentation skills and be able to coordinate with local government and stakeholders.
  • He/ She must have skills and knowledge in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, data analysis and HR management.
  • Other desirable skills include stress management, time management, learning attitude, results-oriented and interest in working in geographically remote areas.
