Job Description:

The Sponsorship Trainee position will actively engage in learning and developing practical competencies in Sponsorship Operations, contributing to World Vision’s mission of promoting child well-being. This role is designed to build capacity through hands-on experience and collaboration with designated teams and individuals across WVI Nepal’s Field Offices and Area Programs.

Key responsibilities include supporting the Sponsorship department in the effective management of Sponsorship Operations, with a particular focus on timely and high-quality Sponsorship Correspondence Management in alignment with WV’s global standards. The trainee will assist in maintaining compliance with operational timelines, data integrity, and child protection protocols while fostering meaningful connections between sponsors and registered children.

In addition to operational support, the Trainee will participate in programmatic activities such as child monitoring, community engagement events, and local development initiatives to gain a holistic understanding of Sponsorship department’s role within integrated program delivery. This immersive experience will enhance the trainee’s skills in stakeholder coordination, communication, and impact reporting, ultimately preparing them for future roles in child-focused development work.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop sponsorship operation related knowledge and contribute to core departmental responsibilities

  • Gain a comprehensive understanding of World Vision’s Child Sponsorship approach, including its vision, mission, and strategic goals centered on child well-being.
  • Familiarize with the organization’s development programming approach and its integration with sponsorship to promote holistic child development.
  • Learn key sponsorship business processes, operational standards, and compliance requirements.
  • Understand Registered Children (RC) data management protocols and Area Program RC profile management.
  • Recognize the importance of quality sponsorship correspondence and support timely delivery of communications to sponsors and Area Programs.
  • Assist in reviewing and uploading Sponsorship 3.0 products into Horizon SSUI as per operational standards and supervisor guidance.
  • Learn the selection criteria and processes for Most Vulnerable Children (MVC) and RCs.
  • Develop proficiency in using sponsorship platforms such as Horizon HOPE (programmatic and sponsorship modules) and the Sponsorship Dashboard.
  • Understand the Sponsorship Operational Plan and its integration with broader programmatic goals.
  • Provide logistical and administrative assistance during peak sponsorship periods and key operational cycles.
  • Support the team in organizing and executing sponsorship-related activities and events.
  • Participate in meetings, orientations, and training sessions by shadowing supervisors and team members.
  • Learn and adhere to organizational policies, safeguarding protocols, and compliance standards.

Communication and coordination

  • Facilitate effective communication and coordination with the Field Sponsorship team and other team members, as directed by the supervisor.
  • Assist in gathering and documenting impactful stories from the field to support program visibility and sponsor engagement.
  • Uphold strict confidentiality when handling sensitive data and information, particularly those related to Registered Children (RC).
  • Collaborate efficiently with cross-functional departments including Finance, Supply Chain Management (SCM), MEALS, and other sectoral programs to ensure integrated operations.
  • Respond promptly to field-level inquiries and concerns, following guidance and direction from the supervisor.
  • Ensure clear, timely, and accurate communication of relevant information to internal team members.
  • Demonstrate thoughtful, analytical, and holistic thinking in all aspects of work and decision-making..

  • Demonstrate openness to learning and actively seek opportunities to deepen understanding of World Vision’s programs and operational priorities within program-focused areas.

  • Collaboratively develop action plans aligned with team objectives, in consultation with supervisors and team members, and execute tasks accordingly.

General Responsibilities

  • Participate in meetings and organizational engagements as required by WVI Nepal or assigned by the supervisor.

KNOWLEDGE/QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE ROLE

Required Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Running or freshly graduated) in Social Sciences/ Development Studies from recognized university/institute or any relevant field.
