Job Description

Job scope: The job involves assessing, evaluating, and processing claims related to construction projects, infrastructure damage and property-related issues. Technical expertise in the construction sector ensures accurate and fair claim settlements for civil engineering-related loss.

Job Description:

  •  Inspect damaged structures, construction sites or civil works (e.g., buildings, bridges, roads, pipelines) to assess the extent of damage and determine repair or reconstruction costs.
  • Verify the cause of damage (e.g., natural disasters, construction defects, accidents or fire) and ensure it aligns with the policy coverage.
  • Evaluate whether the structure or project is repairable or a total loss (write-off).
  •  Work with the investigation team to resolve suspicious claims.
  • Analyze repair or reconstruction estimates provided by contractors, engineers or construction firms for accuracy and fairness.
  •  Ensure compliance with insurance policy terms and conditions.
  • Identify fraudulent claims by examining damage, construction records and project documentation
  • Prepare detailed inspection reports, including photographs, diagrams and repair/reconstruction estimates.
  • Maintain accurate records of claims, assessments and settlements.
  •  Collaborate with surveyors, contractor and policyholders to gather necessary documentation
  •  Recommend claim settlements based on the assessment and policy terms.
  •  Negotiate with contractors, construction firms and policyholders to reach a fair settlement.
  • Ensure timely processing and payment of claims.
  •  Communicate with policyholders to explain the assessment process and settlement details.
  • Address technical queries related to structural damage, repairs and reconstruction
  • Ensure all claims are processed in compliance with regulatory guidelines and company policies.
  •  Stay updated on industry standards, construction techniques and advancements in civil engineering.
  • Identify red flags in claims, such as exaggerated damage, poor construction practices or false documentation.
  •  Risk assessment to estimate Probable Maximum Loss (PML) and provide insights on risk factors to underwriting department.

Job specification:

  •  Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  •  Strong knowledge of civil engineering principles, construction methods and materials.
  • Prior experience of 3 years in civil engineering, construction or infrastructure projects is preferred.
