Sr. Project Coordinator – Education

Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning and implementation:
- Independently lead and manage the ECCD and Basic Education of Sahayatra III in line with the approved project documents and ensure quality implementation and results.
- Ensure timely planning, implementation, regular monitoring, documentation/reporting and evaluation of the project.
- Support DCC. Municipalities to have effective program planning and implementation as well as reporting recording of all kinds of support.
- Oversee day-to-day operations and management of activities of education components -ensuring coordination between the team members in different components.
- Monitor the financial expenditure regularly and ensure adequate burn rate of the project funds with support from finance department and prepare & share monthly, and quarterly project tracking and annual reports.
- Facilitate the Education coordinators to identify and manage national consultants, academicians providing short term technical assistance on Education.
Programme Management
- Overall responsible for the quality implementation of education components ensuring that services are delivered on time maintaining donor compliance.
- Ensure that implementation methods are consistent with acknowledged good practice and achieve sustainable results.
- Ensure that programs are implemented completely in line with Save the Children’s principles, values and strategic plan and compliant with Save the Children’s procedures.
- In coordination with the district, ensure that project on track and follow up with team members regularly to ensure smooth implementation of planned activities.
- Monitor program progress against both programmatic and budgetary targets, making adjustments to programme design as necessary taking approval from the project managers.
- Prepare timely and high-quality programme and donor reports on project activities in compliance with internal Save the Children requirements and any relevant external donor requirements.
- Support in Save the Children dual mandate of development programs as well as being the leader in Emergency preparedness and response for children.
Capacity building and strengthening:
- Facilitate & motivate project staff in the district to perform highly in their respective roles and responsibilities.
- Ensure that all district staff understand and are able to perform their role with full spectrum.
- Contribute in creating an environment and culture of team work, open communication, learning, and constructive feedback in all aspects of activities being undertaken
Planning, Budgeting and project implementation
- Support to Project Manager on project planning and budgeting related to Education theme.
- Ensure and support partner and district team to implement the plan & budget as stipulated in the detail implementation plan and phased budget in hiThe position holderr part and technical support.
- Maintain functional coordination and relation with province, district and municipality stakeholders and ensure the quality planning and implementation of Education.
- Keep Project Manager and team abreast on the progress, challenges, and way forward in the area responsible for.
Quality Reporting, documentation and generating learning:
- Produce and submit project progress report of education component to Project Manager in a timely manner to review further to submit donor.
- Enhance partners’ and project teams technical capacity on producing periodic project report with quality that meets the donor requirements and ensure proper documentation of key lessons learnt and best practices.
- Ensure timely update of progress data and information into OPMIS and produce donor and annual country report based on the CSP and global result indicators.
- Support to organize various learning forums/workshops for partners to exchange their learning, best practice and successful stories for synergy and quality programming.
- Play lead role in the documentation of best practices, innovation, key learning and major achievements of the projects for institutional memory and knowledge management of the education components of the project.
- Explore new initiatives in terms of modalities and approaches for program development and implementation and contribute to design new projects concepts & proposals.
- Coordination, collaboration, representation:
- Strengthen networking and coordination at the municipal and state level with GO, child rights organizations and other stakeholders for synergy and policy advocacy in-relation to child rights, education and protection issues.
- Create learning sharing forums, networks and coalition of like-minded organization and move together with common voice for policy advocacy.
- Ensure that Save the Children’s work is coordinated with efforts of other agencies and Government, and take a leadership role within Interagency Coordination forums, ensuring the specific needs of children are being addressed.
- To identify opportunities and material to contribute to communications and media work, acting as a spokesperson when required
Other - Ensure that Save the Children receives regional / national recognition for achieving proven and innovative regional /national impact from well-managed child development programs and emergency response.
- Support field office on the tasks/ responsibility given by Supervisor in adhoc/need basis as and when required.
- Comply with Save the Children policies and practice with respect to child protection, code of conduct, health and safety, equal opportunities and other relevant policies and procedures.
- Represent Save the Children in number of meetings, seminars conducted under International, National, Karnali province and Municipalities in coordination with Save the Children Education team.
- Supporting Save the Children’s dual mandate of development programs as well as being the leader in emergency preparedness and response for children.
Qualifications and Experience :
- Masters’ degree in Education or equivalent with minimum 4 years (3 years for GSI group) of experience in managing Education projects/programs preferably ECCD and Basic Education/ or Bachelor degree in Education or equivalent with minimum of 6 years of (4 years for GSI group) experience.
- Strong project/program development and overall project management skills
- Strong leadership and managerial capability
- Sound interpersonal skills with ability to work in a multi-cultural environment
- Partnership management (both government and non-government) skills
- Ability to establish good working relationships and positively contribute to a team
- Ability to work in a stressful and changing environment with limited resources
- Willingness to keep abreast of new developments through continued learning
- Willingness to stay at different base and field locations depending on the needs of the programme
- Good information seeking skills and proactive approach
- Fluency in English and Nepali, both written and spoken
- Commitment to the aims and principles of SC; in particular, a good understanding of the SCI mandate and child focus and an ability to ensure this continues to underpin our support
