Strategic Information Specialist-DHIS2 Support

Location: Kathmandu

The Strategic Information Specialist-DHIS2 Supports is responsible for supporting strategic information (SI) system of EpiC Nepal through technical support in effective management of DHIS2-based HIV Care and ART Tracking System aka One National HIV Information System (ONHIS) managed by Ministry of Health and Population of Nepal and Mero Data of FHI360 Nepal. The role involves supporting EpiC Nepal’s SI Unit in monitoring project activities, data collection, dataset preparation, analysis, and reporting. The specialist will ensure the effective functioning of DHIS2 systems in collaboration with NCASC and HIV stakeholders, while also building capacity for USAID/PEPFAR partners in using the DHIS2 system

Key Responsibilities

  • Customize DHIS2 system based on user feedback and reporting requirements, track feedback and error logs, and ensure software version control.
  • Administer and maintain DHIS2 Tracker, optimize performance, manage backups, ensure security.
  • Provide technical support, and manage data tasks like record deletion, quality checks, and report generation.
  • Develop and implement SOPs to ensure data confidentiality and security and ensure adherence by implementing partners.
  • Support SI unit during conduction of trainings, mentorships, TAs and other capacity building activities to supported facilities and IPs to ensure availability of quality and timely data for reporting and use in decision making.
  • Developing standardized programming and data documentation, entry, analysis and visualization procedures relevant to the program data systems.
  • Assists in writing proposals, abstracts, success stories, manuscripts etc. by providing technical data-related sections and participating in work plan development.
  • Assists in the development of data procedural protocols, updates, and reviews and participates in project scheduling.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Health Informatics, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of DHIS2 customization, implementation, and management in any project.
  • At least 5 years of experience in web and mobile applications using Java programming language and related technologies.
  • Familiarity with client/server or multi-platform application development. Must be highly skilled in the use of JavaScript, Angular, HTML 5, CSS, and XML.
  • Familiar in data visualization software such as PowerBI, Tablue, and data analysis software such as R Studio, Python.
  • Proactive in managing multiple tasks, managing and working in the virtual work environment, and flexible and open to managing time for working with different teams in different time zones as needed.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication, coordination and collaboration, team building and management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent oral and written English and Nepali including documentation skills.
