Duration of Contract: One year with the possibility of extension

Gross Salary: NPR ranging from 1,445,136 to 1,617,924 per annum based on competency

Good Neighbors International (GNI) Nepal is implementing a SAFE-Girls Project in collaboration with UNFPA in Nepal and funded by Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA). The project focuses on addressing harmful practices and gender-based violence (GBV) experienced by adolescent girls and young women. The project aims to create safe spaces, strengthen GBV response services, and enhance comprehensive sexuality education (CSE). GNI Nepal is responsible for implementing the project in the Madhesh Province where levels of gender-based violence and harmful practices are high.

Scope of Work

The Team Lead, based at Head Office, is responsible for the overall management of the project activities of the SAFE-Girls project in the target areas. S/he will work under the overall guidance of the Operations Division Head and will report directly to the Organization’s Focal Person for SAFE-Girls Project. The Team Lead will work closely with other key GNI Nepal technical, program, and operational staff for the effective implementation of the key components of the project and in close collaboration with focal persons from UNFPA in Nepal, partner government/line ministries, and implementing partner organizations. As a core resource of the project, s/he will be responsible for overall coordination and management of the project implementation including providing policy, program and operational management guidance to support project deliverables/results. S/he will manage the project team including the Provincial Project Coordinator to ensure timely coordination, operational and financial management, implementation monitoring, and reporting of the SAFE-Girls project ensuring full compliance with GNI Nepal’s policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

Deliverables include but are not limited to:

• Oversee daily management of project deliverables, coordinating with relevant staff to ensure activities are completed on schedule according to work plans, with proactive planning, budgeting, financial and narrative reporting, and collaboration with national and international implementing partners.
• Take responsibility to oversee the project and ensure that activities are designed and implemented in alignment with the project document and work plan, including the consistent application of the project’s monitoring and evaluation framework across all activities and outputs.
• Serve as the focal point for coordinating project activities by liaising with UNFPA in Nepal, Government of Nepal representatives, and project partners/field offices, as well as planning and organizing joint activities in alignment with the project document.
• Provide supportive supervision, technical assistance and guidance to provincial offices, oversee the preparation of work plans by implementing partners, and monitor and evaluate progress according to the project monitoring plan, including managing contracts with partners to achieve projected program results, document and apply lessons learned to address any gaps.
• Promote a high standard of compliance with GNI Nepal’s rules and regulations, including financial management, by providing guidance for effective project implementation that aligns with all requirements and due diligence processes.
• Ensure effective program implementation by overseeing monitoring, mobilizing technical support for implementing partners, and fostering closer collaboration and stronger working relationships among partners.
• Analyze the policy context, lead policy and advocacy engagement to strengthen Gender-Based Violence (GBV) prevention and response services including One Stop Crisis Management Centers (OCMC), Adolescent Friendly Sexual and Reproductive Health (ASRH) services and Adolescent Friendly Information Corners (AFICs) in the SAFE Girl Project area and design strategies to address the identified gaps and issues with demonstrated expertise in leading policy and advocacy initiatives to support government at all levels in developing policies and programs related to Gender, Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), and Youth.
• Collaborate with government ministries, provincial and local governments and provide technical assistance in drafting and implementing comprehensive GBV/GESI related policies including GBV Elimination Strategy to ensure the effectiveness and sustainability of GBV prevention and response programs.
• Finalize annual work plans for SAFE-Girls project implementation that contributes to GBV prevention, ASHR and response specifying coordination and collaboration plan with provincial and local stakeholders.
• Draft and implement a gender project management capacity-building plan for project staff and concerned stakeholders.
• Support the provincial project coordinator in designing and implementing prevention and outreach activities that engage community influencers, men and boys to foster community ownership of GBV and sexual and reproductive health and rights.
• Provide technical guidance and support to local governments for integration of Comprehensive Sexuality Education into the local sectoral policies and plans including developing gender-transforming in-school CSE curriculum and resource materials and ensure quality delivery of CSE in and out of schools.
• Collaborate and coordinate with central and provincial governments and UNFPA representatives to promote and facilitate gender-responsive policy, planning, and legislation through evidence-based advocacy initiatives integrated into development plans and budgets.
• Support to MEAL, Public Health department and provincial project coordinator in conducting surveys, research, and evaluations of GBV-related activities of the SAFE-Girls Project.
• Support to MEAL department to develop monitoring tools to ensure that the program is right-based, gender-responsive, and contributes to the elimination of gender-based violence.
• Compile periodic (monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual) reports, case studies, case stories, knowledge products and Information, Education and Communication – Behavior Change Communication (IEC-BCC) materials concerning GBV and report to concerned authorities such as province and head office level stakeholders.
• Provide technical support in designing and implementing activities to strengthen support and prevention systems for GBV survivors.
• Accomplish additional tasks required to ensure the smooth functioning of the project as asked by the supervisor of the thematic area and Senior Management Team (SMT).
• Job Requirements

  Advanced university Degree in Gender Studies/Women’s studies, Public Health, Sociology, Development Studies other pertinent fields.

• At least five to seven years of increasing responsibility and professional experience and expertise in project management and development relevant to gender-based violence, gender equality, reproductive rights, adolescent/youth empowerment, public health, or similar roles.
• Substantive knowledge and practical experience in the area of gender-based violence prevention, ASRH, CSE, advocacy, program implementation, and monitoring and evaluation.
• Experience in reporting to UN agencies and bilateral donors
• Excellent communication and writing skills in English and Nepali
• Ability to work collaboratively, supportively, and respectfully with others in multicultural teams and strong networking skills.
