ROLE PURPOSE

The Technical Coordinator-Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR) and Gender Based Violence (GBV) will provide technical support for the Safe and enabling environment for adolescent girls and young women (SAFE-Girls) project being implemented in Partnership with UNFPA. The project will be implemented by local NGO partners in two districts -Kapilvastu and Rolpa. The technical coordinator will support Project team both at Plan and the local implementing partner to ensure that the technical aspect of the project is well ensured during the implementation. S/he will closely work with the Local implementing partner for quality execution of the project. S/he will also be responsible for capacity development of Plan International Nepal and its partner staff on SRHR and GBV.

Direct Line Manager: Project Specialist – Safe and enabling environment for adolescent girls and young women (SAFE-Girls)

Dotted Line Manager: Senior Technical Advisor ( Lead and Decide ) and Senior Technical Advisor (Thrive)

Budget Accountability: None

Number of direct reports: None

External relationships and representation: Frequently represent Plan International Nepal in various external forums to showcase Project achievements as well as to advocate to ensure girl’s rights.

KEY RELATIONSHIPS

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Responsible to provide adequate technical support to local partner for quality implementation of the project
  • Develop Technical guidelines including quality benchmark for the project activities.
  • Ensure that the activities of the project are delivered with technical standards- in alignment with UNFPA and government guidelines.

Responsible to build capacity of local implementing partners

  • Training needs of partner staff identified.
  • Short and long-term plan developed to strengthen the capacity of partner staff.
  • Guideline/manual is developed for training at different levels.
  • Training and follow-up conducted as per training plan.

Advocacy and Influencing on SRHR and GBV

  • Support in identification of advocacy/influencing agenda for the project.
  • Establish relationship with relevant networks/alliances on SRHR and GBV.
  • Develop joint advocacy actions with allies.
  • Key achievements and good practices are identified and collected.
  • Collaborate with provincial and local government to advocate for improved SRH and reduced GBV in Lumbini province.

Any other tasks as assigned by line manager in accordance to organizational mandate and priority.

Ensures that Plan International’s global policies for Safeguarding Children and Program Participants and Gender Equality and Inclusion (DEI) are fully embedded in accordance with the principles and requirements of the policy including relevant Implementation Standards and Guidelines as applicable to their area of responsibility. This includes, but is not limited to, ensuring staff and associates are aware of and understand their responsibilities under these policies and Plan International’s Code of Conduct (CoC), their relevance to their area of work, and that concerns are reported and managed in accordance with the appropriate procedures.

TECHNICAL EXPERTISE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

Education Qualification and Experience

  • Master’s degree in relevant field with 2-3 years of experience in similar sector.
  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field with 3-4 years of related experience.
  • Experience in providing technical support for quality delivery of projects on SRHR and GBV especially regarding Comprehensive sexuality. education, adolescent friendly services, Safe spaces for girls and prevention and referral of GBV related to adolescents’ girls.
  • Experience of providing trainings and capacity building initiatives on SRHR and GBV.
  • Experience in development of advocacy strategy and policy advocacy on SRHR.

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of National SRHR priorities and international commitments on SRHR.
  • Knowledge of key actors and their work on SRHR.
  • Knowledge of national capacity building packages on SRHR.

PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT

This position is based in Bhalubang, Dang-Lumbini Province with frequent travel to field as necessary.
