Technical Coordinator- WASH

Location: Saptari

The position is to be filled as soon as possible, with an initial contract duration of one year. There are very good prospects for an extension. Employment location will Saptari, Nepal. The position is paid according to paygrade.

To further develop WHH’s engagement on WASH System Strengthening at the local and the provincial level. Ensure the success and quality of the different programmes/projects in line with Welthungerhilfe, governmental standards and policies, coordinate with Welthungerhilfe staff, partners, and stakeholders, and contribute to the further development of the country strategy.

Your responsibilities

  • Partnerships coordination at the local level which includes joint planning with the partners on various project deliverables.
  • Identify and propose innovation to roll out and monitor innovations into the program.
  • With support from the Technical Expert WASH , assess and further develop the capacity of the partners, government officials and other stakeholders on WASH, based on capacity building plan. promotion.
  • Coordinate with provincial and local governmental stakeholders, relevant /I/NGOs and contribute to their strategies/ policies and maintain active, transparent, and accountable positive relations.
  • Attend and represent WHH at relevant meetings, networks, thematic working groups etc. and actively contribute upon agreement with the Technical Expert WASH
  • Decision-making and judgement based on technical and management experience.
  • Coordinate project implementation monitoring, and reporting in collaboration with local partners, WHH MEAL Team and Technical Expert WASH for various projects related to WASH
  • Support the WASH Expert to conduct different studies, assessment and undertake WASH governance activities in close coordination with local and provincial stakeholders.
  • Documentation of substantial knowledge of the areas of implementation in the form of learning document or, process documentation.
  • Accompanying donor, WHH missions from abroad, government officials, other relevant stakeholders to the field.
  • Ensure the sustainability of the developed structures supported by the project beyond the project timeline
  • Ensure the quality delivery and timely tracking of the budget as per the planning
  • Support in Identifying, designing, and assessing new project ideas, concept notes and proposals ensuring an integrated, programmatic approach with a lens on responding to the challenges of climate change.
  • Any other duties assigned by the Technical Expert WASH.

Your profile

  • Nepali citizen having bachelor’s degree in Environment Science, Environmental Engineering, Social science or relevant Development studies.
  • Medium levels of skills and expertise on the subject matter.
  • At least 3 years of similar experience in WASH projects.
  • Desired management experience of 1-2 years.
  • Good understanding and experience on partnerships management and ability to work with partners.
  • Proven experience in interactive training facilitation
  • Understanding and practical experience of programming based on Systems Thinking.
  • Good understanding and knowledge on WASH system strengthening, WASH governance and advocacy.
  • Knowledge of sector-related (WASH) national guidelines, policies, sector strategies as well as international frameworks
  • Knowledge on WASH in various contexts viz. humanitarian, development and DRR is an added advantage.
  • Good understanding on gender and social inclusion related issues an asset
  • Excellent facilitation, coaching and communication skills with fluency in written and verbal English and Nepali Language
  • Proven analytical and decision-making skills in a challenging context
  • Creative, flexible, and pro-active, willingness to learn and to share knowledge.
  • Proven ability to work creatively, innovatively, and effectively with limited direct supervision.
  • Willingness to work in the field,
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, and Power point, outlook) and web-based communications systems/ technologies.
  • Knowledge and experience of digital-based (smart-phone) based data collection and analysis.
