Technical Expert: Knowledge Management & Learning (Regional)

in Kathmandu

The position is to be filled as soon as possible, with an initial contract duration of one year. There are very good prospects for an extension. Employment location will be Kathmandu, Nepal. The position is paid according to paygrade.

To lead and further develop Knowledge Management and Learning components of the “Green Evolution Project” incorporating the knowledge management strategy, the framework and the plan as per WHH standards and donor’s requirements.

Your responsibilities

The specific responsibilities include:

  • Design the Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Framework, Strategy and Plans for the project across three countries and roll it out with the team and the partners.
  • Develop a knowledge management plan to ensure that monitoring, evaluation, and research findings, lessons learned, and best practices from various activities are documented, stored, and shared with participants and stakeholders both within and outside of Welthungerhilfe.
  • Ensure that the MEAL systems are data driven and as per the needs of the program.
  • Develop high quality promising practices documentation, develop position papers, lessons learned, support evidence creation and documentation.
  • Identify and assess potential new technical and research partners.
  • Prepare high quality reports/documentation for WHH and donor agencies ensuring all requirements are met.
  • Collaborate with project teams and participants to strengthen the regional Community of Practice (CoP) across the three countries.
  • Oversee thematic consultancies incl. ToR development and quality assurance of final products (surveys, assessments, evaluations, etc.)
  • In charge is responsible for setting up learning (CLA) mechanisms as learning agendas and Pause & Reflect format.
  • Attend and represent WHH at relevant meetings, networks, thematic working groups etc. and actively contribute as agreed with the Country Director.
  • Enhance decision-making and judgement based on technical and management experience.
  • Accompanying donor, WHH missions from abroad, government officials, other relevant stakeholders to the field.
  • Any other duties assigned by the Country Director.

Your profile

Required qualification and experience:

  • Nepali citizen having master’s degree in project management, Data Science/Management, Development Studies, or related field.
  • High levels of skills and expertise on the research, knowledge management and learning.
  • High level of skills around qualitative & quantitative data-based management systems.
  • Knowledge and experience of digital-based (mobile device; CommCare being an asset) based data collection and analysis.
  • Excellent skills in data analytics and visualization software
  • At least 7 years of similar experience on designing knowledge management, evaluation and learning strategy and framework around food systems, agriculture, economic development, WASH and livelihoods.
  • At least 4 years of leadership experience
  • Very sound understanding and practical experience on programming based on Systems Thinking.
  • Sound understanding and knowledge on Climate Change, Triple Nexus, LRRD etc.
  • Good understanding on gender and social inclusion related issues an asset
  • Excellent in written and spoken English and Nepali languages, knowledge of Bangla and Hindi could be an added advantage.
  • Excellent project proposal, theory of change, report writing, research and case study formulation.
  • Excellent inter-personal communication skills.
  • Excellent Organizational skills.
  • Excellent coordination and facilitation skills
  • Creative, flexible, and pro-active, willingness to learn and to share knowledge.
  • Proven ability to work creatively, innovatively, and effectively with limited direct supervision.
  • Willingness to work in the field, with overnight stays (village level): – remote and hard to reach areas of Nepal, India and Bangladesh.
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, and Power point, outlook) and web-based communications systems/ technologies.
