Technical Expert: Knowledge Management & Learning
Location: Kathmandu
The position is to be filled as soon as possible, with an initial contract duration of one year. There are very good prospects for an extension. Employment location will be Lalitpur, Nepal. The position is paid according to paygrade.
As a Technical Expert Knowledge Management & Learning, you will play a key role in creating, organizing, and disseminating knowledge products, resources, advocacy and strategy to enhance organizational learning and efficiency. This position involves building and sustaining advanced knowledge management systems while increasing the visibility of the Green Evolution program impact as per WHH standards and donor’s requirements. Furthermore, the role includes other knowledge management related tasks within the organization.
Your responsibilities
- Develop a knowledge management plan to ensure that and research findings, lessons learned, and best practices from various activities are documented, stored, and shared with participants and stakeholders both within and outside of Welthungerhilfe.
- Design and develop knowledge management products (factsheets, research briefs, newsletters, Impact briefs, publications, frameworks, tools etc.) for organizational learning and external dissemination
- Develop high quality promising documentation and communication practices and materials, develop position papers, lessons learned, support evidence creation and documentation.
- Identify and assess potential new technical and research partners.
- Prepare high quality reports/documentation for WHH and donor agencies ensuring all requirements are met.
- Collaborate with regional project teams and participants to strengthen the regional Community of Practice (CoP) across the three countries.
- Oversee thematic consultancies incl. ToR development and quality assurance of final products (surveys, assessments, evaluations, etc.)
- Responsible for setting up learning (CLA) mechanisms as learning agendas and Pause & Reflect format.
- Attend and represent WHH at relevant meetings, networks, thematic working groups etc. and actively contribute as agreed with the Country Director.
- Enhance decision-making and judgement based on technical and management experience.
- Accompanying donor, WHH missions from abroad, government officials, other relevant stakeholders to the field.
- Other knowledge management related tasks
- Any other duties assigned by the Country Director.
Your profile
- Nepali citizen having master’s degree in communications, development studies , Data Science/Management., , or An additional degree in information management or a related field is preferred.
- High levels of skills and expertise on research, knowledge management, communications and learning.
- Knowledge and experience of digital-based (mobile device; CommCare being an asset) based data collection and analysis.
- Excellent skills in data analytics and visualization software
- At least 5 years of similar experience on designing knowledge management, evaluation and learning strategy and framework around food systems, agriculture, economic development, WASH and livelihoods.
- At least 4 years of leadership experience
- Demonstrated ability to translate complex information into clear narratives and visual data.
- Experience in organizing work & projects, developing content, editing, and formatting written and audio-visual documentation.
- Professional technical knowledge/expertise in Knowledge Management theory, setting up knowledge management mechanisms/platforms, planning and monitoring skills, and initiating organizational behavior changes around sourcing and using knowledge and evidence.
- Demonstrated experience developing Knowledge Management products (factsheets, research briefs, newsletters, Impact briefs, publications, case studies, etc) is mandatory.
- Good understanding on gender and social inclusion related issues an asset
- Excellent in written and spoken English and Nepali languages, knowledge of Bangla and Hindi could be an added advantage.
- Excellent theory of change, report writing, research and case study formulation.
- Excellent inter-personal communication skills.
- Excellent Organizational skills.
- Excellent coordination and facilitation skills
- Creative, flexible, and pro-active, willingness to learn and to share knowledge.
- Proven ability to work creatively, innovatively, and effectively with limited direct supervision.
- Willingness to work in the field, with overnight stays (village level): – remote and hard to reach areas of Nepal, India and Bangladesh.
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, and Power point, outlook) and web-based communications systems/ technologies.
