Website Motorable Local Roads Bridge Programme
The Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) is providing Technical Assistance (TA) to the Government of Nepal (GoN) for the implementation of the Motorable Local Roads Bridge Programme (MLRBP) in Nepal. The GoN manages motorable road bridge building in the spirit of the Constitution of Nepal. On behalf of SDC, CIAS-MEH JV provides TA to MLRBP through the Local Roads Bridge Support Unit (LRBSU).
With the objective to support the development of inclusive human resources with the required competencies in bridge building, SDC intends to offer traineeship opportunities for fresh female Civil Engineers to gain first-hand experience in engineering and management in this project. In this context, LRBSU/CIAS-MEH JV invites applications from fresh female civil engineers holding Nepal Engineering Council License.
Trainee Engineer – 14 positions
Purpose: Provide professional work exposure to fresh graduates by providing guided work opportunity from the senior staff of LRBSU. Get hands-on skills on motorable bridges survey, design, investigation, construction supervision.
Qualification: Fresh Graduates completing Bachelors in Civil Engineering after December 2022 holding Nepal Engineering Council License, having keen learning attitude, sense of responsibility and sensitivity towards multicultural environment. Not employed full-time professionally or no prior job experience required.
Duration: 6 months (potentially from December 2024 to May 2025)
Duty station: Provincial offices of LRBSU with frequent travel to the bridge sites.
Major Roles and Responsibilities:
The Trainee Engineer will acquire in depth knowledge, skills and experience in motorable bridge building and she will be responsible to assist LRBSU staff for:
- Ensuring that provincial governments (PGs) construct motorable bridges assuring quality
- Supporting PGs and their staff by co-working together in PG offices
- Planning, bridge survey, design, estimate, construction, monitoring and supervision, quality control and quality assurance of motorable bridges
It is mandatory for the selected trainees to complete the full traineeship programme.
