OVERVIEW: The United States Peace Corps Nepal office is hiring qualified candidates for short term contract positions that support an intensive Volunteer Pre-Service Training (PST) and related Volunteer support activities. Applicants must be willing to live in a village around or outside of the Kathmandu valley during contract period. This is a short-term position and for the duration of the project it requires a minimum of 48 hours per week; work during festivals & holidays that occur during the contract period may be required. This is a project-based contract and may be renewed up to four future assignments without competition based on satisfactory performance, organizational need, and availability of funds.
Compensation is negotiable within a pre-determined range, based on salary history and experience. Those candidates who are currently working with Peace Corps/PST with option period, do not need to apply for the same position.
QUALIFICATIONS & SELECTION: Applicants without minimum qualifications clearly outlined will not be competitive; preference is given to citizens residing in Nepal at the time of application. Position: Training Admin Assistant (TAA) – 1 Position Available
Required qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Business studies or related field. Fluency in both written and spoken Nepali and English. Minimum of one year of experience providing administrative support to ensure efficient operation of an office. Expertise in Microsoft Office Application Usage (especially MS Word, Outlook, and Excel). Desired: For more detail, refer to Statement of Work.
Desired qualifications – Experience in the following:
1. Managing office operations, including coordination with vendors and staff, and by scheduling and assigning administrative projects to expedite work results.
2. Overseeing supplies inventory process by checking stock to determine inventory level, anticipating needed supplies, placing and expediting orders for supplies.
3. Making travel arrangements, including vehicle schedules, hotel accommodations, and restaurant reservations.
4. Partnering with individuals with marginalized social identities (caste, ethnicity, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, and so on) in Nepal.
5. Navigating language and culture in a rural village community setting in Nepal.
Position: Trainee and Homestay Support Assistant (THSA) – 1 Position Available
Required qualifications: Higher Secondary Education (+2)or equivalent. Fluent in both written and spoken Nepali and English. Minimum of six months of experience performing logistic and/or administrative tasks. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially MS Word, Outlook, and Excel). Ability to type both in English and Nepali.
Desired qualifications – Experience in the following:
1. Greeting visitors, answering phones, taking messages, and redirecting requests for information to the appropriate points of contact.
2. Organizing files and also copying, binding, and scanning documents.
3. Conducting office supplies inventory, anticipating needed supplies; assisting with placing and expediting orders for supplies; and verifying receipt of supplies.
4. Creating and managing staff travel plans and schedules.
5. Partnering with individuals with marginalized social identities (caste, ethnicity, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, and so on) in Nepal.
6. Navigating language and culture in a rural village community setting in Nepal.
Position: Training Assistant (TA) – 1 Position Available
Required Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience, preferably in training, coordination, or program support roles..
2. Fluent in Nepali and proficient in English, with strong interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills.
3. Ability to conduct trainings and give presentations, in both English and Nepali, with a proven ability to design and deliver training sessions, facilitate group activities, and mentor or coach staff and volunteers.
4. Strong planning, coordination, and organizational skills; experience in administration, logistics, travel coordination, fleet management, finance, budgeting, or procurement.
5. Proficient in Microsoft Office with the ability to troubleshoot technical issues; and familiarity with online training platforms and audio-visual equipment setup.
6. Flexible, motivated, and self-directed, with a willingness to travel within Nepal and reside fulltime at a rural training site for up to four months.
Desired Qualifications: Experience providing Nepali language training to non-Nepali speakers.
Position: Language and Culture Facilitators (LCFs) – up to 10 Positions
Required qualifications: University Bachelor’s degree in any discipline. Fluency in both written and spoken Nepali and English. Minimum of 6 months of experience teaching or tutoring learners
in a formal or non-formal setting. Computer skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint).
Desired qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Education, and experience in the following:
- Facilitating learning activities that promote collaborative, peer-supported learning.
- Partnering with individuals with marginalized social identities (caste, ethnicity, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, and so on) in Nepal.
- Navigating language and culture in a rural village community setting in Nepal.
- Work experiece in cross-cultural setting with American or international organizations
- Work experience in organizations that achieve their mission through volunteerism.
Position: Agriculture Technical Trainer (ATT) – 1 Position Available
Required qualifications: University Bachelor’s degree in a Project-related subject (Agriculture, Health). Minimum 1 year experience working alongside village community members on locallyprioritized agriculture projects in Nepal. Computer proficiency in MS Office: Windows, Excel, Word.
Desired qualifications: University Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture or Food Security, and experience in the following:
- Providing direct technical support on beekeeping and the cultivation of fruit trees, ginger, turmeric, and mushrooms in rural village settings in Nepal.
- Partnering with rural community members (especially groups of farmers, women, and youth) to identify, enhance, and mobilize their strengths to address community interests and priorities.
- Planning and implementing training sessions and other learning activities that embrace the Experiential Learning Cycle.
- Facilitating learning environments that promote collaborative, peer-supported learning.
- Partnering with individuals with marginalized social identities (caste, ethnicity, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, and so on) in Nepal.
- Navigating language and culture in a rural village community setting in Nepal.
- Work experience in a cross-cultural setting with American or international organizations.

Position: Teaching English as a Foreign Language Technical Trainer (TEFL TT) – 1 Position Available
Required qualifications: University Bachelor’s degree in a project-related subject. Minimum 1 year experience teaching English as a Second/Foreign Language. Computer proficiency in MS
Office: Windows, Excel, Word.
Desired qualifications: University Bachelor’s degree in TESOL/TEFL or English Education, and experience in the following:
- Experience in planning and implementing training sessions, preferably English teacher training, and other learning activities that embrace the Experiential Learning Cycle.
- Experience in facilitating learning environments that promote collaborative, peersupported learning.
- Experience in partnering with individuals with marginalized social identities (caste, ethnicity, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, and so on) in Nepal.

Position: Environment and Eco-Tourism Technical Trainer (EETT) – 1 Position Available
Required qualifications: University Bachelor’s degree in a Project-related subject (Forestry, Environment Science). Professional oral and written English and Nepali proficiency. Minimum 1 year experience working with community forest user groups and locally prioritized environment projects in Nepal. Computer proficiency in MS Office: Windows, Excel, Word.
Desired qualifications: University Bachelor’s degree in Forestry or Environment Science, and experience in the following:
- Experience providing direct technical support to community forest user group on forest management that includes plantation, nursery, forest inventory, selective harvesting, improved cookstove and forest-based income generation activities
- Experience on teaching/training on environment education, solid waste management and establishing and running clubs and camps.
- Experience partnering with rural community members (especially community forest user groups, women, and youth) to identify, enhance, and mobilize their strengths to address community interests and priorities.
- Experience planning and implementing training sessions and other learning activities that embrace the Experiential Learning Cycle.
- Experience facilitating learning environments that promote collaborative, peer-supported

EVALUATION PROCESS:
Prior to any contract offer, at a minimum –
A. Peace Corps will evaluate resumes and cover letters to create a short-list.
B. Short-listed candidates will be invited for group/personal interview, as well as may be asked to participate in practical written and/or oral exercises to assess skill levels.
C. Top candidates will be asked to submit names and contact information for at least 3 references; one reference must be a present/former supervisor or professor.
