Training Officer

Duty Station: Jawalakhel, Lalitpur, Nepal (with up to 40% field visits)

Background

ChildSafeNet is a non-profit non-governmental organisation, established with a mission to make digital technology safer for children and young people. ChildSafeNet works with children, young people, parents, schools, colleges, government, the media, the private sector, NGOs and international organisations. We work to raise awareness on safer use of the internet and digital devices to protect children and young people from internet addiction, online sexual abuse and exploitation, cyberbullying, phishing, gaming addiction and to promote digital literacy.

Purpose

The Training Officer, a crucial member of the organisation, will work as a senior member of the ChildSafeNet research team. The Training Officer will develop training modules, presentations, training tools and handouts for the training sessions and workshops on protecting children and young people in the digital age, in Nepali and English; coordinate and conduct training of trainer workshops; conduct training sessions and workshops as the lead trainer; coach and mentor trainers; plan, coordinate and manage training sessions, mobilising trainers; evaluate effectiveness of training sessions and workshops; prepare training reports; prepare progress reports and donor reports; develop training project concepts and proposals.

Description of Duties

1. Coordinate and Facilitate Training of Trainer (ToT) Workshops: Organise and manage ToT workshops to build the capacity of trainers
2. Conduct Training Sessions and Workshops: Lead training sessions and workshops as the primary trainer
3. Coach and Mentor Trainers: Provide ongoing guidance, support, and mentorship to trainers to enhance their skills and performance; Supervise the trainers to ensure timely completion of training activities and preparation of training reports
4. Plan, Coordinate, and Manage Training Activities: Develop detailed plans for training sessions, ensuring proper scheduling, resource allocation, and mobilisation of trainers
5. Training Need Assessment: Conduct training needs assessments for designing and planning training programmes
6. Evaluate Training Effectiveness: Assess the impact and outcomes of training sessions and workshops using evaluation tools and feedback, including by conducting focus group discussions and key informant interviews
7. Data Collection: Collection of quantitative and qualitative data related to the training activities as well as training needs assessments through online and offline surveys, including field visits
8. Prepare Training Reports: Compile and present comprehensive reports on training activities, including achievements, challenges, and recommendations
9. Draft Progress and Donor Reports: Prepare detailed monthly progress updates and reports tailored for internal use and donors, highlighting key accomplishments, outcomes, opportunities, challenges, lessons learned and ways forward
10. Develop Training Project Concepts and Proposals: Design and draft training-related project concepts and proposals to secure funding or expand training initiatives
11. Represent the Organisation: Represent ChildSafeNet in national and international training programmes, meetings, workshops and seminars as necessary
12. Other Duties: Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor

Qualifications and Experience

  •  Master’s degree, preferably in social work, sociology, public health or anthropology
  •  Minimum five years of experience in conducting coordinating, leading and facilitating training programmes, with at least two years of experience in the field of child rights and child protection issues (e.g., sexual abuse or violence against children, online risks and gender-based violence)
  • Proven track record in conducting training needs assessment and developing training materials
  • Excellent communication (spoken and written) skills, including the ability to convey complex concepts and recommendations both orally and in writing, in a clear, concise style
  •  Good knowledge of children and young people’s online behaviour and risks, desirable
  •  Good knowledge of child rights, child protection and gender-based violence
  • Knowledge of digital technology and use of computer applications

Salary and Benefits

Rs. 40,447 – 62,423 according to the skills and experience, plus Dashain bonus and other applicable

benefits as per the organisational rules
