Transcultural Psychosocial Organization Nepal (TPO) Nepal is one of Nepal’s leading psychosocial organizations. It was established in 2005 to promote psychosocial well-being and mental health of people in conflict-affected and other vulnerable communities through the development of sustainable, culturally-appropriate, and community-based psychosocial support systems.

Project information:

REducing Stigma among HealthcAre ProvidErs (RESHAPE) is a 5-year research project that aims to reduce mental health stigma among primary healthcare workers and improve quality of care through active involvement of mental health service users. The project is implemented by TPO Nepal with technical and financial support by the George Washington University. RESHAPE will be implemented in 24 municipalities of Gandaki Province.

TPO Nepal seeks competent, committed and result oriented candidates for the following positions:

Translator/Communication Officer

Job station : Pokhara

Job duration : 7 months with possibilities of extension

Number of openings : 1 (One)

Start date : At the earliest

Major responsibilities

  • Translation of standardized structural assessment tools, interview guides, checklists and any other official documents from English to Nepali and vice-versa
  • Transcription and translation of qualitative data (focus group discussion, individual interviews, etc.) from Nepali to English and/or vice versa
  • Proofreading and editing of manuscripts, reports, and other project documents in both Nepali and English languages.
    Work and coordinate with the district coordinator, research officers to develop and implement a comprehensive communication, outreach and research finding dissemination strategy. Report to Project lead and implementation coordinator in need basis.
  • Take lead to write, edit, and distribute content, including publications, press releases, website content, annual reports, and other materials in close coordination with concerned person of the organization.
  • Prepare the organization’s periodic reports, event reports, brochures and coordinate to disseminate it in a local and international level through traditional media like newspapers, radio and television and alternative media like social media, bloggers, podcast producers and academic journals.
  • Travel to various working areas of the project and document the project’s work and activities such as training, workshop, meeting etc.
  • Manage the project’s social media sites – twitter, facebook, linked-in, instagram and YouTube and website.
  • Involve in any other activities based on the need of the project and assigned by the organization.

Qualification, Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experiences in the respective field.
  • Good proficiency in computer skills – especially office package.
  • Good grasp of communication/social media platforms and its use for research uptake
  • Prior experience of translator and communication officer. Preference will be given to candidates with experience of translator/communication officer on mental health research
  • Good interpersonal, oral and written communication skills and typing in English and Nepali.
  • Willingness to work in a multicultural environment.
  • We give preference to those, who have driving license of motorbike or scooter.
