United Mission to Nepal (UMN) is an international development organisation which aims to enable the poorest people living in poverty to transform their lives, leading towards fullness of life. As we serve the people of Nepal, multicultural teams of Nepali and volunteer expatriate staff work alongside local organisations in eight districts (six clusters and two hospitals), building partnerships that lead to healthy, dignified, and empowered individuals and transformed communities.

Thematic Lead – Education

Required No.: 1 (Kathmandu Based)

The main purpose of this position is to build the capacity of UMN’s clusters (field offices) and local partner organisations, promote learning and ensure quality for community impact/result in programme designing, implementation and reporting, including educational research and integration of relevant education needs within the framework of UMN’s strategic direction.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Master’s degree in Education, development studies or equivalent with a minimum of five years of experience in development work (INGOs/NGOs).
  • Good track record of writing and achieving project proposals.
  • Extensive understanding, knowledge, and skills in any of the defined areas like parenting education, child friendly education, activity-based learning, and child rights from local, national, and global perspectives.
  • Experience in leading education thematic area of work and managing a team.
  • Experience in building capacity of others using various methods and tools.
  • Extensive experience working in INGO and NGO sector.
  • Experience of working in a cross-cultural setting including remote areas.
  • Experience dealing with minority and oppressed groups.
  • Experience of working closely with government mechanisms and networking.
  • Excellent in communication skills (verbal and written) both in English and Nepali.
