Summary:

The U.S. Mission in Kathmandu, Nepal is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Plumbing Maintenance Worker. This vacancy is open to all interested applicants.

The work schedule for this position is: Full Time (40 hours per week)

Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time of receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.

Duties

The incumbent carries out scheduled and unscheduled plumbing preventive maintenance and repair work on mission buildings and facilities including residential owned and leased properties. The incumbent would repair, and install plumbing as needed to support a variety of systems including but not limited to plumbing building and mechanical systems, potable water treatment and storage, waste water treatment, fire sprinkler, swimming pool and landscape irrigation.

Qualifications and Evaluations

Requirements:

EXPERIENCE: A minimum of three (3) years of experience in the repair and maintenance of building plumbing and mechanical systems and utility treatment operations is required.

Education Requirements:

Completion of Secondary School is required and/or completion of vocational training from an accredited institute recognized as producing journeyman level technicians with a concentration in plumbing principles and application is required or Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT) skills test certification in plumbing trade is required.

LANGUAGE: Limited speaking/reading/writing English is required. Good Working Knowledge speaking/reading/writing Nepali is required.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Communication skills to answer queries from end-users are required. Flexible approach to work shifts and answer emergency calls at all hours is required. Valid Class A and B driving license is required.
