Arise and Shine is an initiative to address the prevailing spiritual, social, and economic needs among Nepali youth within the Lalitpur district of Kathmandu Valley. ANS responds to the problems of the prevailing negative environment of bullying, unhealthy relationships, substance abuse, petty crimes, disinterest in school studies, to name a few, of the young people. ANS addresses these problems of young people by operating a Youth Centre that is safe, loving, and informal where they wish to come regularly to spend their free times by playing games, music, meeting friends, reading books etc. ANS also engages young people in activities that develop their skills that shapes and empowers them for their better career opportunities.
OVERVIEW
We are looking for an active youth program assistant staff. If you have a passion to develop young people and help their families in the holistic growth of their teenage children and help build a holistic approach to youth development, we would like to invite you to join our staff team to work together in making the dream of ANS a success.
Youth Center Incharge
Basis: Part timer (Mon-Fri and on Sat from 1 to 6 pm)
Location: Hetauda-11, Simlaltar
Objective of the position:
To carry out the Youth Centre project at Hetauda and implement it effectively.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Program planning and carry out all the plans made by head office
- Program organizing (logistics, run errands and communication)
- Program execution and management
- Organize periodic programs or events if needed
- Program monitoring and evaluation (reporting and feedback)
- Take care of mini library or books for DZ comers
- Make a payment, receipt and voucher
- Deposit and bank transaction
- Administration and finance (bill entry and record keeping)
- Handle petty cash and cash flow
- Manage day to day operations
- Record keeping (both soft and hard copy)
- Documentation and filing
- Take responsibility of ANS properties
- Youth supervision and care (Youth values and policies)
- Maintain the registration, sign in/ out, visitor logbook, data entry, collect forms, etc.
- Handle calls, communication and follow up
- Weekly updates and reporting
- Facilitate session in weekly CST and coordination
- Supervise intern/ volunteers
- Provide brief orientation on YC project to anyone who visit by or join programs
- Build rapport with youths coming
- Build rapport with parents of teens
- Report writing (monthly, quarterly, semiannual and annual)
- Serve a cup of juice/ tea to every youth joining DZ
- Serve snacks to youths joining weekly CST
- Follow program checklists and guidelines
- Provide a basic counseling to the youths and parents
- Monthly report on both finance administration and program
Secondary responsibilities:
- Tasks as assigned by Supervisor (PC)
- Take part in other organization-wide events/activities
- Get the training, develop skills and contribute
- Coordination with the principal of D.P. Believers School
- Hold an accountability with Supervisor and team members
- Teamwork and cooperation among team members
- Punctuality and confidentiality
- Problem solving skills
- Strong communication skills
- Fluency in English and Nepali language (both written and speaking)
- Good dealing with others in terms of coordination
- Proactiveness and dedication towards the work
Requirements for selection:
- Age from 26-35 years
- Male/Female
- Hetauda resident
- Minimum bachelor’s degree running in social work-related field
- Minimum 2 years’ experience with youth development organization or structured institute
- Practical knowledge (Microsoft Word, Excel, Power point)
- English and Nepali competencies
- Team builder and motivator personality
- Interpersonal skills
* Priority will be given to those who have experience among youths aged from 13-24.
