Position: Finance Officer (Finance, Fixed-term, Full-time)

Location: Kathmandu

Overview of the Role

The purpose of this role is to effectively engage, support and monitor finance activities in the country office to ensure sound financial management, risk identification and management, compliance, planning/reporting and financial controls to achieve objectives under ZSL 200. The post holder will work closely with the Deputy Country Director, Finance and Operations Manager and Project Lead for soft services to deliver the responsibilities and activities as noted within the key responsibilities section of this document, focussing predominantly on the areas of Hard Facilities Management, Asset Management, Workplace Management, etc.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the production of monthly or quarterly invoices (or as required) and confirms that appropriate documents are completed accordingly and linked with receipts, in compliance with ZSL/donors’ requirements.
  • Coordinate with ZSL Nepal field offices and ZSL Nepal implementing partners office for timely submission of invoices/finance reports and follow-up with payments.
  • Coordinate with the partner organisations regarding all the financial matters and update ZSL finance reconciliation accordingly.
  • Maintain an accurate and up-to-date database of expenditures for the projects and relevant documents.
  • Record keeping and monitoring of all the physical assets of ZSL Nepal office against expenditures.

The ideal candidate will:

  • 3 years or above of relevant accounting and financial management experience.
  • Extensive experience in the development and variance analysis of budget.
  • Proven experience in undertaking financial reporting responsibilities.
  • Educated to Master’s degree level in relevant subject, or related subject area, or equivalent qualification, or demonstrate such a level of equivalent qualifications and experience through relevant practical work experience.
  • Advanced skills in using MS office packages, specifically Excel and PowerPoint or equivalent software packages will be acceptable.
  • Familiarity with managing competing priorities and delegate effectively.
  • Sound knowledge on taxation and financial regulations of Nepal
  • Able to lead on financial management and skills to communicate such with non-finance colleagues
  • A background check will be required as part of the role.
