Position: IT Assistant

Nepal Netra Jyoti Sangh (NNJS), a leading non-profit organization working to reduce avoidable blindness and improve access to quality eye care across Nepal, is seeking a motivated IT Assistant to join our Central Office in Kathmandu.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide day-to-day IT support to staff for computers, laptops, printers, and network-related issues.
  • Install, configure, and maintain computer hardware, operating systems, and application software.
  • Working knowledge of Network Attached Storage (NAS) systems, firewall configuration, and basic network security management.
  • Support the maintenance of LAN, internet connectivity, routers, switches, and Wi-Fi networks.
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network problems in a timely manner.
  • Maintain and update antivirus systems and data security measures.
  • Assist in maintaining the organization’s database systems and Management Information Systems (MIS) when required.
  • Support virtual meetings, training sessions, and digital communication platforms.
  • Maintain an inventory of IT equipment and ensure proper documentation.
  • Assist in data backup and system recovery procedures.
  • Provide IT support to workshops, meetings, and events organized by NNJS.
  • Perform other IT-related tasks assigned by the supervisor.

Education & Experience:

  • Diploma in Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or related field from a recognized institution with at least 1 year of relevant work experience, OR
  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related discipline (fresh graduates with strong technical skills may apply).
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in IT support, networking, or system maintenance preferred.
  • Experience in hardware troubleshooting and network support will be an advantage.

Required Skills and Knowledge

  • Good knowledge of Windows operating systems and MS Office applications.
  • Ability to troubleshoot hardware, software, printers, and peripheral devices.
  • Knowledge of basic networking, routers, switches, and internet configuration.
  • Familiarity with data backup systems and antivirus/security tools.
  • Basic understanding of website management or database systems is an added advantage.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Ability to maintain documentation and IT inventory records.
