Context
The FAO Country Office in Nepal engages with a wide range of development partners, including bilateral donors, multilateral institutions, and international organizations, to mobilize resources and strengthen partnerships in support of national development priorities. As FAO continues to implement and design projects under ongoing and planned programmes, there is a need for additional programme support related to partnership coordination, information management, and basic analytical work. The Programme Associate will support the Partnerships and Resource Mobilization cluster in day-to-day activities related to resource mobilization and international cooperation. The assignment is designed as an entry-level learning opportunity for an undergraduate student, offering exposure to FAO’s partnership processes, donor coordination mechanisms, and programme support functions under close supervision
Task description
Under the overall supervision of FAO Representative in Nepal, and direct supervision of AFAOR (programme) along with Programme Manager and programme team, the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:
Assist in compiling and organizing information on development partners, donors, and ongoing collaboration relevant to FAO programmes in Nepal.
Support preparation of background notes, briefing materials, and presentations for meetings with partners and international stakeholders.
Contribute to drafting simple sections of concept notes, project summaries, and internal documents related to programme development and partnerships, under guidance.
Assist with coordination and follow-up actions related to partner meetings, workshops, and consultations.
Support maintenance of simple tracking tools and databases related to partnerships and resource mobilization activities.
Participate in team meetings and support documentation and knowledge sharing related to partnerships and programme activities.
Perform other related support tasks as assigned, consistent with learning objectives.

Living conditions and remarks
Kathmandu is a family duty station with access to housing, healthcare, transportation, and communication services. FAO Nepal operates within an established UN system environment that provides support services to international personnel. While basic infrastructure is generally adequate, occasional disruptions to utilities may occur. Nepal offers a culturally rich living experience, and the UN community provides orientation and support to international volunteers.
