The Gurkha Welfare Trust Nepal is the field arm of The Gurkha Welfare Trust UK, a charitable Trust established and registered in the UK in 1969, and working particularly for the ex-Gurkha Veterans
and their communities across Nepal.

We are seeking applications from suitably qualified, committed, and eligible individuals for the following positions:

1. Vehicle Mechanic/Mechanical Transport Assistant based at this Trust’s Headquarters (HQ) in Pokhara.
2. Project Supervisor based at HQ Project Cell initially. Area Welfare Centre (AWC) to be confirmed in due course.
3. Cluster Pharmacist based in AWC Butwal.

1. VEHICLE MECHANIC/MECHANICAL TRANSPORT ASSISTANT:

Key Responsibilities:

The Vehicle Mechanic/MT Asst delivers integrated technical, coordination, and senior driving support to ensure the organisation’s fleet remains safe, roadworthy, and consistently operational.
The role provides in-house preventive maintenance, diagnostics, repairs, and independent technical assessments, ensuring that referral to external garages occurs only when necessary and following rigorous technical and cost scrutiny. It plans and monitors maintenance schedules, oversees and quality assures outsourced repairs, verifies costings, and maintains accurate fleet, safety, and
compliance records.

This role also undertakes senior driving duties and mentors drivers across GWT(N), promoting safe driving practices, regulatory compliance, efficient fleet utilisation, and reduced downtime, costs, and operational disruption in line with duty of care standards.

Essential and Desirable Criteria:

Bachelor’s degree in Automobile Engineering, Mechanical Engineering.
Minimum 3 years’ practical experience in vehicle maintenance and repair (4WD vehicles minimum and motorbikes preferred).
Must have a valid Nepali driving license of Categories A and B. In possession of category ‘F’ driving license is desirable.
Ability to diagnose mechanical faults systematically and be familiar with preventive maintenance scheduling.
Strong knowledge of petrol and diesel engines with knowledge of electrical systems, suspension, braking systems, and transmission.
Must be computer-literate, able to use MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
Should have very good leadership, management and interpersonal skills.
Should have work ethics, resourcefulness, integrity and dedication to duties.
Experience with NGO/INGO Equipment Care and fleet management will be an advantage.

2. PROJECT SUPERVISOR:

Key Responsibilities:

The Project Supervisor will undertake field visits to flat, hilly, and remote areas of Nepal to carry out technical site surveys for school construction projects, new house construction, and house enhancement works.
The Project Supervisor may be based either at the Headquarters (Project Cell) or on Area Welfare Centres (AWCs), depending on project workload, geographic coverage, and the nature of the assigned projects. Frequent travel to project locations will be required to ensure effective implementation, monitoring, and reporting of project activities.

Essential and Desirable Criteria:

Diploma in Civil Engineering with at least 3 years of work experience in supervising construction projects. Alternatively, Sub-overseer in civil engineering with 6 years of work experience.
Computer literacy, including word processing.
Knowledge of working with AutoCAD and other design packages.
Experience working within a government department, INGO, or NGO in Nepal.
Must be in possession of category ‘A’ Nepali driving license with experience on riding rough terrains.
In possession of category ‘B’ driving license is desirable.
Experience on WASH related programmes will be an advantage.

3. CLUSTER PHARMACIST:

Key Responsibilities:

The Cluster Pharmacist is overall responsible for implementing Pharmacy related Clinical Care and Clinical Governance in his/her Medical Centre in accordance with all GWT(N) SIs, Standards of Medical Service delivery, Quality Standards, Policies and Procedures. The Cluster pharmacist is responsible for the Pharmacy Service delivery and management at Key AWC’s, non-Key AWC’s and patrol bases in liaison with Healthcare Professional’s in the medical centres.

Essential and Desirable Criteria:

Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy with at least 2 years of work experience post qualification.
Current unrestricted registration as a Pharmacist with Nepal Pharmacy Council (NPC).
Must be computer literate and should have knowledge of Pharmacy Inventory software.
Working knowledge and application of relevant Country legislation governing Pharmacy Service Delivery.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, paying careful attention to detail and managing multiple tasks.
High level of communication skills.
Experience in reputed private hospitals/ community pharmacy an advantage.
Prior Experience working with international organisations will be an advantage.
Able to work effectively with both medical and non-medical staff.

REMUNERATION

All three positions fall in EG3L1 in our pay structure, with a basic monthly salary of NPR 76,571.
Current salary is applicable for internal candidates transferring level.
All other benefits and facilities will be provided in accordance with GWT(N) Standing Instructions.
The initial contract duration is three years (two years for Project Supervisor position), with the possibility of extension based on organisational needs and individual performance.
