Building on this experience and expertise, iDE Nepal is seeking a leader who can translate its market-based approach to nutrition into strategic, high-quality implementation and sustainable impact across the region.This position will provide overall strategic, technical, and operational leadership for the Transforming Lives through Nutrition (Transforming Lives) Project, implemented in Dang, Nawalparasi West, Kapilvastu, and Rupandehi Districts. The position will also support implementation of future projects in the region.

He/She will lead the field team, strengthen the capacity of implementing partners, and represent iDE Nepal in relevant forums. The role will ensure effective project implementation, field coordination, monitoring, learning, reporting, and partner support, while maintaining quality, compliance, and achievement of project results. The position will provide technical leadership on nutrition-sensitive and climate-resilient food systems, strengthen private-sector and government partnerships, and promote innovative, scalable, and market-based solutions. Using iDE’s Market Systems Development approach, the position will support outcomes across nutrition, food security, climate-smart agriculture, and WASH, while generating evidence and learning to inform future programming and scale. The position will be based in Butwal, with frequent travel to project locations.

Key Responsibilities

Planning , Management, and Representation

• Provide strategic leadership and technical support for effective project management and delivery, ensuring quality, compliance, and alignment with organizational priorities.
• Lead project planning, including development of DIPs, implementation guidelines, operational plans, and adaptive management in response to changing contexts.
• Ensure integration of GESI, risk management, safeguarding, and other organizational standards across project implementation.
• Coordinate closely with project, technical/thematic, partner, and Country Office teams to ensure effective implementation and timely resolution of operational issues.
• Build and maintain effective relationships with government, private sector, development partners, community stakeholders, and other relevant actors, and represent iDE Nepal in key forums and events.
• Ensure effective communication and coordination with relevant stakeholders and promote collaboration, learning, and resource sharing across the region.

Team Management

• Provide leadership, guidance, and performance management to team members, ensuring clear roles, accountability, and alignment with organizational objectives.
• Assess staffing and capacity-building needs and work with HR, line managers, and technical leads to strengthen team capacity and performance.
• Coordinate team planning, workload, and resource allocation to ensure efficient and effective delivery of project activities.
• Support staff development, performance appraisal, and resolution of team-related issues in coordination with the Country Office.

Monitoring, Reporting and Learning

• Oversee project monitoring and supervision in coordination with project and technical leads, ensuring effective implementation and compliance with financial, administrative, and HR requirements.
• Prepare project progress reports on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis and share with the direct report and the thematic/technical/project leads
• Conduct regular field and joint monitoring visits with partners and stakeholders, provide coaching and support, and address implementation issues in a timely manner.
• Monitor project progress, indicators, budgets, and implementation quality against approved plans, logframes, and theories of change, and prepare timely monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
• Contribute to Monitoring, Evaluation, Learning and Research and ensure documentation and sharing of key results, good practices, lessons learned, and evidence.

Safety and Security

• Monitor contextual, operational, and security risks and ensure appropriate mitigation measures are in place.
• Maintain and regularly update regional security plans and ensure compliance with organizational safety and security policies and procedures.
• Serve as the regional focal point for safety and security incidents, ensuring timely communication, response, and coordination with the Country Office.
• Support security assessments, audits, and implementation of recommended actions, while safeguarding organizational assets, information, and documents.

Requirements

• Master with 4 years’ experience on Sr. Officer level or Graduate with 7 years’ experience at officer level in Agriculture, Nutrition, Social Science, Development Studies, or a relevant discipline.
• Relevant experience in the development sector, with significant exposure to project leadership, planning and implementation; coordination; community mobilization; monitoring and supervision at field level
• Experience working in the agriculture and nutrition sector with a market systems development approach.
• Strong leadership, teamwork, coordination, and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent communication, networking, negotiation, mediation, and relationship-building skills.
• Strong problem-solving, decision-making, analytical, and listening skills.
• Well-organized, proactive, adaptable, reliable, accountable, and able to manage multiple priorities.
• Strong computer skills, including MS Office, Google Workspace, and digital communication tools.
• Demonstrated ability to work respectfully and effectively with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures.

• Having a two-wheeler valid license would be an added advantage.
