The How: DAAYITWA, with a focus on economic empowerment, envisions an enterprising Nepal where every youth has opportunities for a prosperous future. Daayitwa is a part of the Daayitwa Abhiyaan which consists of four organizations: Daayitwa, Governance Lab, Nepal Leadership Academy based in Nepal and Nepal Rising (Daayitwa-US) based in the U.S. Inspired by shared values of innovation, collaboration, and service, it promotes the socio- economic development of Nepal. The movement fosters inclusive and equitable economic growth by accelerating grassroots innovations, strengthening government institutions, and revitalizing a virtuous cycle of democracy and development through grassroots-government collaboration.

Project Overview

Inclusion Economics Nepal at Governance Lab, in partnership with Daayitwa, Yale Economic Growth Center, and Tufts Fletcher School, is implementing “Expanding Access to Flood Early Warnings for Urban Firms in Nepal.” The project tests whether timely, trusted flood forecast information enables formal and informal firms in peri-urban Kathmandu to take anticipatory action that reduces flood losses, through a randomized impact evaluation reaching approximately 2,000 firms.

Responsibilities: Key Responsibilities

1. Participating in training and acquiring adequate skills for conducting survey activities both before and during the survey period following the survey schedules defined by the institution.
2. Travelling to locations of deployment for survey purposes during the period of the Contract.
3. Conducting and uploading data to Survey CTO or similar survey app, following the field survey protocol.
4. Attending daily virtual meetings with the Research Team during the survey period and any additional sessions as required.
5. Maintaining a timesheet of survey days worked, and being available on phone within working hours on survey deployment days.
6. Reporting to the Survey monitor/ supervisor appointed by the employer on the progress of the surveys and promptly reporting any issues that may arise during the course of the survey.
7. Following the IRB protocols and codes of ethical conduct as prescribed during the training.
8. Maintaining data quality and protecting the integrity of the data collected during the survey.
9. Protecting all confidential information from unauthorized disclosure of any kind.
10. Assisting the Survey monitor in any other manner as required for the effective implementation of survey instruments.
11. Carrying out any other tasks related to the project.

Qualifications

• High School Level Education (+2) required.
• Mobile Phone for data collection is required.
•  Familiarity with microsoft excel, google sheet, and google docs is required.
•  Previous field experience in data collection is highly preferred.
•  Previous experience conducting household and firms survey in Kathmandu is highly preferred

Additional information

Compensation: The rate will be mutually agreed upon, commensurate with the level of deliverables, qualifications and experience of the candidate.

Field Location: Kathmandu

Duration of work: 40 days, (35 days field work)
