POSITION TITLE: Project Coordinator

DUTY STATION: Kathmandu with frequent field travel

REPORT TO: Country Director, Winrock International – Nepal

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Project Coordinator will be responsible for the day-to-day coordination, planning, and oversight of all project activities under one of the ongoing projects. The role ensures the timely and high-quality delivery of outputs related to municipal energy planning, market opportunity assessments, skills and business training, and post-training support, while ensuring compliance with funder technical, environmental, social, and inclusion requirements.

Winrock International has been working in Nepal to increase access to clean energy through public awareness raising and capacity building since the establishment of Winrock International Nepal in 1997. Its work focuses on project design and implementation, technology and market assessments, developing project pipelines and mobilizing investments, reforming energy planning and policy, and building capacity of governments, communities, financial institutions, and the private sector. It provides Results-Focused, Human-Centered, Science-Based and Market-Driven technical and financial assistance.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the overall guidance and the immediate supervision of Country Director, Winrock International Nepal, the Project Coordinator will be responsible for:

  • Coordinate overall project planning, implementation, and monitoring of the Project and work plan in collaboration with Supervisor and other project staff.
  • Coordinate day-to-day implementation of project activities according to the work plan.
  • Facilitate communication between project staffs, partners, local government, private sector and communities.
  • Ensure adherence to donor and organizational compliance standards.
  • Support Supervisor and partner organization in executing various project activities.
  • Support in executing various activities related to surveys.
  • Provide support in delivering various training while ensuring quality control and compliance with authority standards.”
  • Liaise with local governments, community representatives, and partner organizations to secure their active participation in project activities.
  • Coordinate logistics for training, workshops, and field activities, including venue, equipment, materials, and participant travel arrangements.
  • Monitor and track project progress against deliverables, including trainee numbers, gender and inclusion targets, and completion rates.
  • Provide support in maintaining and updating project databases, ensuring accurate recording of disaggregated trainee and instructor information, pre- and post-training assessment results, and follow-up data.
  • Prepare and submit regular progress reports (monthly, quarterly, annually) to Funder, highlighting achievements, challenges, and corrective actions.
  • Facilitate coordination between field teams and the central project office to ensure consistent implementation and timely issue resolution.
  • Support preparation and quality assurance of technical deliverables.
  • Ensure timely communication with Funder on project updates, approvals, and stakeholder coordination requirements.
  • Organize inception, coordination, and reflection workshops with Funder, municipalities, and key stakeholders.
  • Support development of communication and stakeholder engagement plans, ensuring alignment with Funder’s protocols.
  • Support Supervisor to oversee grievance management processes, ensuring accessibility and timely resolution in coordination with funder’s mechanism.
  • Coordinate documentation of project impacts, including success stories, case studies, and short videos showcasing adoption and training outcomes.
  • Ensure readiness for audits and compliance reviews by maintaining accurate records of project activities, financial transactions, and participant data.

CLIENT AND OTHER STAKEHOLDER RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT

  • Developing productive working relationships with beneficiary representatives to ensure effective delivery of specific outputs.

ETHICS AND SECURITY

  • Complying with Winrock Ethics and Security policies, including completing the annual ethics training.

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Must have a master’s degree in Environment Science, Project Management, Statistics, Economics or other relevant disciplines.
  • At least 5 years of general experience in project management of donor funded projects.
  • Familiarity with donor compliance requirements particularly of funder is desirable.
  • Demonstrated experience in quantitative and qualitative data collection, analysis, and reporting.
  • Extensive knowledge of Nepal’s Energy Sector including GON policies, guidelines, acts, regulations. Experience of developing Municipal Energy Plan (MEP) is additional advantage.
  • Willingness and availability to travel within the country as needed.
  • Proficiency in both written and spoken Nepalese and English languages.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • Fluency in written and spoken English and Nepali.
  • Excellent leadership, management and written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to work with a diverse range of actors from different cultural contexts in the country.
  • Strong management skills.
  • Willingness to travel to the field stations.
  • Highly conversant on MS word, MS- PowerPoint and MS-Excel is a must.

  • Willingness to work as part of a team and a diverse group of people is essential.
  • Ability to always demonstrate the highest level of ethical standards.
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple projects.
