Lab Technician (Histology Segment)

Position: Lab Technician (Histology Segment)
Qualification: CMLT or Higher
Experience: At least 2 Years in related field
Location: Maharajgunj, Kathmandu

Job Responsibilities:

1. Specimen Preparation:

•  This includes receiving, logging, and prioritizing tissue samples from various sources (surgical, diagnostic).

2. Processing:

•  Embedding tissue into paraffin blocks, fixing tissue in formalin and operating equipment for dehydration, clearing, and infiltration.

3. Sectioning:

• Cutting tissue samples into thin sections using a microtone.

4. Staining:

•  Applying dyes and reagents to tissue sections to enhance visualization of cellular structures under a microscope.

5. Microscopic Analysis:

• Some Technicians may also perform initial microscopic review of stained slides.

6. Quality Control:

• Ensuring accuracy and consistency in all steps of tissue processing and staining, maintaining equipment, and following laboratory procedures and regulations.

7. Record keeping:

•  Maintaining detailed records of all tissue processing, staining, and analysis. Solution Preparation:
• Preparing stains and reagent according to established procedures.

8. Skills and Qualifications:

a) Technical Skills:

•  Proficiency in using laboratory equipment (microtome, tissue processors etc) performing routine and special stains, and troubleshooting technical issues.

b) Attention to Detail:

• Accuracy and precision in handling tissue samples and maintaining detailed records.

c) Communication Skills:

• Ability to communicate effectively with pathologists and other healthcare professionals.

d) Problem-Solving Skills:

• Ability to troubleshoot technical problems and maintain equipment.
