Position Title: Research Associate
Duty Station: Lalitpur, Nepal
Reports to: Senior Program Officer and Operation Coordinator
Contract Type: Full-time
Duration: 6 Months [Possibility of Extension]

1. Position Overview
The Research Associate will be responsible for developing high-quality academic manuscripts, reports, and policy briefs derived from IHRR’s ongoing projects and research outputs. The role requires strong analytical, writing, and publication skills to translate project findings into impactful academic and scientific contributions. As a key team member, the position will also support day-to-day
program coordination, content creation, stakeholder engagement, and strategic positioning to develop quality publications.
2. Key Responsibilities
- Review and synthesize research findings from IHRR projects related to disaster risk reduction, climate change, and resilience.
- Prepare manuscripts for submission to peer-reviewed journals, including literature reviews, data interpretation, and drafting.
- Support co-authorship coordination, referencing, and formatting in line with target journal requirements.
- Develop technical reports, knowledge products, and policy briefs.
- Collaborate with IHRR researchers, project teams, and external experts to ensure scientific rigor and quality.
- Maintain a database of ongoing and published research outputs.
3. Required Qualifications & Experience
Education and Experience:
- Master’s degree (or running) in Environmental Science, Disaster Risk Reduction, Geography, Civil Engineering, Social Sciences, or a related field.
- Proven experience in academic writing, research publication, or scientific editing. Familiarity with research methodologies, data analysis, and referencing tools (e.g., Zotero, Mendeley, EndNote).
- Demonstrated understanding of disaster risk reduction, climate resilience, or related thematic areas.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

- Strong understanding of interdisciplinary approaches in health and development.
- Strategic thinking, communication, and facilitation skills.
- Proposal writing and documentation skills.
- Proactive Learning Commitment Proficiency in MS Office packages.
- Fluency in English and Nepali.
