Technical Coordinator: Agriculture and Natural Resources in Lahan

The position is to be filled as soon as possible, with an initial contract duration of one year. There are very good prospects for an extension. Employment location will be Lahan, Nepal .The position is paid according to Nepal Paygrade.

To further develop WHH work on Food System, Agriculture, Sustainable Livelihoods, economic development at the local and provincial level. Ensure the success, coherence and quality of the projects in line with Welthungerhilfe, governmental standards and policies, coordinate with Welthungerhilfe staff, partners, and stakeholders, and contribute to the further development of the country strategy.

Your responsibilities

  • Support in Identifying, designing, and assessing new project ideas, concept notes and proposals ensuring an integrated, programmatic approach with a lens on responding to the challenges of climate change.
  • Overall Project management as assigned
  • Promote climate-resilient and environmentally sustainable practices, including agroecology, biodiversity protection, soil and water conservation.
  • Support inclusive agricultural value chains and market linkages, particularly for smallholder farmers, women, youth, landless and marginalized groups.
  • Strengthen coordination and knowledge exchange across agriculture, nutrition, livelihoods, disaster-risk reduction, and natural resource management initiatives.
  • Roll out and monitor innovations into the program.
  • Partnerships coordination at the local level which includes joint program planning and monitoring with the partners on various project deliverables.
  • Coordinate with provincial and local governmental stakeholders, contribute to their strategies/policies and maintain active, transparent, and accountable positive relations.
  • Under the technical support from technical Experts assess and further develop the capacity of the partners, government officials and other stakeholders on food systems, agriculture and livelihoods promotion.
  • Support and prepare the project progress report and project data management.
  • Coordinate project implementation monitoring, and reporting in collaboration with local partners, WHH MEAL Team, Technical Experts for various projects related to Agriculture,
  • Natural resource management, Livelihoods and Enterprise development.
  • Accompanying donors, WHH missions from abroad, government officials and other relevant stakeholders to the field.
  • Attend and represent WHH at relevant meetings, networks, thematic working groups etc. and actively contributing as agreed with the Technical Expert.
  • Any other duties assigned by the line manager.

Your profile

  • Nepali citizen having bachelor’s degree in agriculture, natural resources, food security, livelihood or related field.
  • At least 3 years of similar experience in food security, agriculture, economic development, natural resources management, entrepreneurship development and livelihoods.
  • Desired management experience of 1-2 years.
  • Good understanding and experience on partnerships management.
  • Proven experience in interactive training facilitation
  • Understanding and practical experience of programming based on Systems Thinking.
  • Good understanding and knowledge on Climate Change, etc.
  • Knowledge of sector-related (Food Security, Nutrition and Sustainable Livelihoods promotion) national guidelines, policies, sector strategies as well as international frameworks
  • Knowledge of food security, livelihoods, agriculture, and economic development in various contexts viz. humanitarian, development and DRR is an added advantage.
  • Good understanding of gender and social inclusion related issues an asset.
  • Willingness to relocate and work in the field, Excellent knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, and Power point, outlook) and web-based communications systems/ technologies.
  • Knowledge and experience of digital-based (smart-phone) based data collection and analysis.
