Transcultural Psychosocial Organization Nepal (TPO Nepal) is one of Nepal’s leading organizations in psychosocial and mental health support. It was established in 2005 with the aim of promoting psychosocial well-being and mental health of people in need through the development of sustainable, culturally-appropriate and community-based mental health and psychosocial support systems.

TPO Nepal is implementing a project named “Mental Health and Psycho-social Support interventions to Individuals, Families and Communities affected by the Flash Flood” funded by Americares Foundation, which aims to improve the mental health, psychosocial well-being, functioning and resilience of individuals, families and communities affected by the flash flood through evidence based MHPSS interventions and strengthened community and health system support.

In this regard, TPO Nepal is looking for a competent, committed and result-oriented candidate for the following position.

Position: Psychologist

Location: Nuwakot and Rasuwa

Duration: 8 Months (Possibility of extension)

Starting date: At the earliest

Major responsibilities:

The Psychologist will be responsible for following duties but not limited to:

  • Assess MHPSS needs of individuals, families and communities and other affected/ vulnerable populations in flood affected areas.
  • Provide psychological assessment and counselling and evidence-based psychosocial interventions to individuals and groups.
  • Facilitate individual and group sessions as required.Identify mental health and psychosocial needs and provide appropriate referrals to specialized services when required.
  • Supervise, monitor, and provide technical guidance and support to Community Based Psychosocial Workers (CPSWs) to implement project activities.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with local authorities and other relevant stakeholders to facilitate effective implementation of project activities.
  • Participate regularly in clinical supervision, peer supervision, and other supervisory meetings as required.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential case documentation and ensure timely reporting to the supervisor.
  • Prepare and submit regular activity reports and provide relevant updates on project implementation to the supervisor.
  • Participate in project coordination meetings and other relevant meetings at local and project levels.
  • Conduct regular field visits to project-implemented areas.
  • Support other project-related activities and responsibilities as assigned by the organization based on project need.

Qualification, Skills and Experience:

  • The candidate must have Master’s degree in Psychology from a recognized university.
  • At least two years experiences in psychosocial and mental health field.
  • Able to work in multi-culture environment.Willingness to be stationed and travel within Bhotekoshi flood affected areas.
  • Perform any other training related assignments as per the need of the project.Able to prepare reports in computer.
  • Must have fluency in English and Nepali languages, both written and spoken.
