Position: Executive Director
1. Background
YKP LEAD Nepal is a youth-led national
l organization working with Young Key Populations (YKPs) and Young People Living with HIV (YPLHIVs). The organization focuses on youth leadership development, HIV care and support, advocacy, stigma reduction, community empowerment, and rights-based programming.
To ensure effective leadership, compliance, program quality, and organizational sustainability, YKP LEAD Nepal seeks to appoint a qualified Executive Director (ED) to lead the organization in line with its mission, policies, and statutory obligations.
2. Position Summary
The Executive Director (ED) is the chief executive officer of the organization and is responsible for the overall management, leadership, coordination, and representation of YKP LEAD Nepal. The ED reports directly to the Board and is accountable for program implementation, financial management, human resources, donor compliance, and institutional development.
3. Scope of Work and Responsibilities
The Executive Director shall perform the following duties:
3.1 Organizational Leadership and Management
- Provide strategic leadership and direction in line with the organization’s vision, mission, and objectives
- Ensure effective day-to-day management of organizational operations
- Lead and supervise staff, consultants, and volunteers
- Ensure the implementation of organizational policies, procedures, and internal control systems
3.2 Program Planning and Implementation
- Oversee planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of programs and projects
- Ensure quality, timely, and results-based program delivery
- Ensure integration of gender, inclusion, safeguarding, and rights-based approaches in all programs
3.3 Financial Management and Administration
- Oversee financial planning, budgeting, and expenditure control in coordination with the Finance/Admin function and Board
- Ensure compliance with donor requirements, SWC regulations, and Government of Nepal policies
- Ensure timely audits, financial reporting, and transparency
3.4 Donor Coordination and Resource Mobilization
- Lead donor engagement, communication, and relationship management
- Coordinate proposal development, donor reporting, and grant compliance
- Support resource mobilization and organizational sustainability initiatives
3.5 Governance and Compliance
- Act as the primary liaison between the organization and the Board
- Support Board meetings, reporting, and decision-making processes
- Ensure compliance with SWC, line ministries, and other statutory requirements
- Represent the organization in official coordination and review meetings
3.6 Representation, Advocacy, and Networking
- Represent YKP LEAD Nepal at national, regional, and international forums
- Strengthen coordination with government agencies, donors, networks, and civil society organizations
- Lead advocacy initiatives related to youth, HIV, key populations, and social justice
4. Required Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Social Sciences, Public Health, Development Studies,
- Management, or a related field
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience in leadership or senior management roles in NGOs/INGOs or
- networks, with experience working with YPLHIVs and YKPs
- Demonstrated understanding of HIV programming, youth-led approaches, key populations, and rights-based frameworks
- Proven experience in donor coordination, proposal development, and project reporting
- Strong leadership, organizational management, and team supervision skills
- Excellent written and spoken English and Nepali
- The candidate must be from within key population / YPLHIV community
