Job Description

Overall Purpose of the Job

The position serves as a frontline healthcare provider, delivering essential clinical and nursing support to meet the immediate health needs of patients while contributing to the overall health and well-being of the community.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Support Staff Nurses and medical personnel in delivering comprehensive patient care within the hospital.
  • Provide basic nursing care services. Prepare patients for medical examinations, treatments, and procedures as instructed.
  • Accurately measure, record, and monitor vital signs such as temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation.
  • Assist patients with daily living activities, including hygiene, mobility, and feeding, under supervision.
  • Perform basic wound care, including cleaning and dressing, as directed by nursing supervisor.
  • Collect, label, and handle specimens (urine, stool, sputum) for laboratory testing.
  • Assist in implementing nursing care plans developed by registered nurses.
  • Observe patient conditions and promptly report any changes or concerns to the supervising nurse.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and well-organized patient care environment in line with hospital standards.
  • Ensure availability and proper use of medical supplies and equipment in the assigned unit.
  • Accurately document patient care activities and observations as per hospital guidelines.
  • Escort patients for diagnostic tests and procedures within the facility.
  • Provide basic health education to patients and their families under guidance.
  • Assist during emergencies and follow established hospital emergency protocols.
  • Work collaboratively with the healthcare team, including doctors, nurses, and support staff.
  • Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and infection prevention and control standards.
  • Participate in trainings, workshops, and continuous professional development activities.
  • Perform any additional duties as assigned by the supervising nurse or medical officer.
  • Required to work in shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays.
  • Exposure to clinical environments with potential health and safety risks.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Completion of an Auxiliary Nurse Midwife (ANM) / CMA course from a recognized institution with 1 year of experience.
  • Valid registration with the Nepal Nursing Council (NNC).
  • Prior experience in a hospital or healthcare setting is preferred.
  • Technical Competencies
  • Basic knowledge of nursing care principles and procedures.
  • Skills in delivering essential nursing care within scope of practice.
  • Understanding of patient care standards in a hospital environment.
