Human Development and Community Services (HDCS) is a faith-based NGO working in three main sectors of health, education, and community development since 1991. Currently, it manages various projects across Nepal especially in rural regions and provides services through hospitals, health camps, public health programs, disaster preparedness and response, school development programs, teacher training, educational daycare centres for special needs children, and community radio stations. About the Position
Location: Central Office with frequent and weeks-long stays in project locations
Employment Type: Highly flexible working times. Full-time 40 working hours per week. The employment contract will be on a yearly basis.
We are looking for a motivated and passionate individual to join our team as a Project Officer for the SAMBHAV project. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working young people from rural area, teaching lifeskills, being responsible for a thriving hostel culture and handling professional networking with vocational training institutions.
The Project Officer will be responsible for the implementation of all SAMBHAV project activities, finance handling, reporting to partners and liaison with government authorities and vocational training institutions. The role offers great opportunities for professional growth in project management and social work.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement all SAMBHAV Project activities for Part 1 (6-month Kathmandu-based Vocational Training & Hostel Program) as well as for Part 2 (Rukum-based Business Training Program)
- Select suitable young persons for Part 1 and 2 of SAMBHAV project
- Handle all finance matters including billing of all expenses, procurement of vocational training courses, financial planning and reporting
- Report to HDCS line manager as well as international funding partner organization.
- Create a thriving community culture for all program participants and alumni
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with specialization such as Social Work, Social Science, Public Health, or other.
- At least one experience related to youth or community-based work through employment, internship, volunteering, academic projects, or similar activities.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
- Willingness to travel regularly and for extended stays (4-8 weeks) to project location Rukum.
